Forums - Gaming - No Kratos No Buy!

The only reason I played the series was
A: graphics
B: boobs

I couldn't care less about Kratos, his story, or even the gameplay, TBH. It was just a series that looked good and bad titties. I did really enjoy 2 and 3, though. Not sure if they were better games or if it was just better graphics and Boobs.

Sorry but thats not even close to an intelligent thought process.

God of War is a gorgeous series with great combat, art, set pieces and a really fun premise. Not liking Kratos doesn't negate all of that.

In any case you ignore the potential for people to become fatigued over time. As I stated I think he was good for the series inception, but I think they should move forward now.

What you're saying is that they should make a new IP instead of a GOW with Kratos, not a GOW without Kratos. Therefore as I said it doesn't matter, because they're (supposedly) making GOW, so obviously Kratos is there.

No I'm not fatigued of the gameplay, the premise etc. I'm fatigued of Kratos' character.

Kratos is God of War.
If Kratos isn't the protagonist in God of War 4 then it shouldn't be called God of War 4 imo.

Kratos is one of my favorites characters,of course here (half the users are Nintendo fanboys) hates he.

Yes let's reduce that to yet another console war issue, there many valid reason for anyone regardless on console alliegance to want Kratos replaced.

The truth is that for many gamers, even those who loved the God Of War games like me, Kratos' story was done after GoW3. Ascension used the prequel route to pump out a new story involving Kratos but it was pretty weak. To have him somehow cross over to Norse mythology and once again declare war on all Gods would be ridiculous.

Even on the gameplay side, keeping Kratos causes problems because after 4 games (6 if you played the PSP games) fighting with the Blades of Chaos, it's starting to get old and you can't have Kratos without his signature weapon.

I would probably still buy a God of War 4 with Kratos but I woudn't be as hyped as if they come up with something new.

Signature goes here!

Doesn't need to be GOW to have similar gameplay and premise. It does need Kratos to be GOW. The type of characters that have been suggested as replacements would simply result in a game that would be GOW in name only. It needs Kratos ripping and banging everything in sight, otherwise gtfo.

I find it odd you'd say that though. Gameplay is exactly where GOW feels the most outdated today, it shows PS2 era roots (for better and for worse). Combat is the area Santa monica needs to focus on improving with this next game, not the protag that fita the IP like a glove.

I think I would prefer no Kratos if it going to be in a non-Greek mythology setting. I don't dislike Kratos like many of the other people here but, it would just be weird for him to be fighting the Norse gods or other ones for me.

I'd definitely like to see it evolve in terms of combat, but that wasn't the topic of conversation so I didn't want to bring it up lol

God of War is a title/moniker and within every mythology a different God fills that title. The series isn't named Kratos' Adventure, but I won't argue with opinion if people feel like he "makes" the series. I will however argue that just because he fits it well, doesn't mean that other creations can't. Especially when unlike Link or Mario, Kratos is actually a fleshed out character with motive and a Narrative arc, one which has ended (with 3) and gone beyond its original intention and purpose.

I dont need kratos. He had 6 awesome games.
A new one is ok to me

Norse mythology is so ritch and interesting in it's own right, that I think they would really do themselves a disservice trying to fit Kratos in there.
It make it come off much more like a pallette swap, rather than an actual interesting game in it's own right.
It would be a much better idea to make this a legacy series imo.

That's a terrible idea, God Of War is one of the best franchise in all of gaming. IMO I think those who don't play GOW games should not talk about whether the series should continue or not, just like I never tell others that Mario and Zelda games should be discontinued.

Palette swap? You know that each game has its own distinctly different levels, puzzles, boss fights and secondary weapons? I wish people would play games in a series before commenting on them, Kratos is just one aspect of these games. He is the God Of War, but he isn't the game.

If Kratos is in, I won't buy it.

His role as a tragic Greek hero was fulfilled in the first game, but by now it's gotten ridiculous. He's not interesting and bringing him in with his paper thin but stagnant characterization will only limit the writing in a new setting. I don't need a likable protagonist; just an interesting one whose story I want to see through. Kratos hasn't been that since the first game.

The first game had a fine plot, I'll give you that, but its not even close to being the best in the series. GOW II and Ghost Of Sparta are much better in the story department, as well as otherwise, as the first one was fairly predictable. GOW II had incredible amount of plot twists such that you couldn't guess what would happen next, and Ghost Of Sparta is a touching story about his lost brother.
