Disruption, not destruction. Destruction is the removal of something, disruption is the changing of something. Big difference.

Don't worry about it. We all have to start somewhere. Which is something Nintendo certainly remembered about gaming when they designed the Wii.

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

That was a great reading. I wish that more people realted to the industry (like analysts, developers, media, and of course, gamers) should read and think about it. If Nintendo is so damn wrong then why is having spo much success?

Here comes the master Nintendo fanboy :

“Videogames are technology-driven and yet Nintendo continues to dismiss new, important technologies. It's unfathomable. It's like a painter throwing away his paintbrushes because they are too expensive. I mean, I've tried to understand this approach, but I don't think it can be understood. No matter how you look at it, it makes no sense. Gloom and doom mostly over. I'm quite sure that despite this lunatic decision Revolution will have its unique appeal. It'll still have a place in my living room. But I think it will become more niche due to a domino effect that's sure to happen. I predict less third-party support because cross-platform ports are sure to be more difficult. And as a result, I'm sure Revolution -- like GameCube -- will become a console for Nintendo fans.” –Matt Casamassina. Senior Editor for IGN Nintendo (2005)

Matt is not a Nintendo fanboy.  He talks about how great PS3 and Xbox 360 games are on the IGN Nintendo podcast.

This... is just.... wow. 0,o

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

I read 3 of his editorials, and they are all amazing. He really thought about it.

Definately an interesting and thought-provoking read. Hopefully a number of developers and executives at gaming companies read this.

Damn nice article can't believe I read all that ....it makes alot of sense tho disruption ftw !

Great article.

Indeed all 3rd party developers should read it.
The trend is very clear. Downmarket -> Upmarket games.

Some 3rd party devs will certainly have anticipated that (Capcom, Square) and will benefit widely from that.
