Forums - Gaming - The best upgrade this gen: bigger draw distances!

I think increased draw distances is the most unsung upgrade we got this gen and is getting far too little love in tech discussions. People seem to really have taken it for granted.

Just 4 years ago we went from this

to this

And yeah JC2 had good draw distance but never was it this detailed

XBX

Hell even Driveclub

Infamous SS

FFXV

SW BF

Is UC4 the best? Huge open areas with literally 0 pop in.

Sorry, but just cause looks better. You can see alot more.

From those pictures, JC looks better. Plus, we know the entire JC game is like that. We don't know if U4 is like that in just that one area or another or a few more.

I mean, it's cool I guess.

Added more. Feel free to contribute as well.

Even the WiiU could say that it improved a lot in that regard :P

Depends on the game. Witcher 2 had some pretty awesome draw distance too. Generally though, yeah, I agree.

Particle effects, resolution, framerate is all you pretty much hear about.

Especially in the opening scene at the siege !

Been enjoying massive draw distance for years now, mods and community patches work wonders on games. I remember gasping at Gothic 3 after I increased the draw distance a great deal. It really helps with immersion.
