Three hours? Lol. $60 for such a tiny game is way too much.

Star Fox games have always been about replayability. Not sure you knew this already.

When you only comment to insult Nintendo and their games, I am going to assume that no, they are not aware.

Hi

Around the Network

I'm still pissed abouth the Black Arwing, and I guess I'll be pissed forever then. No words on another difficulty mode?

On the bright side, I'm really happy about the length. 10 hours to unlock and play all the levels is good. Plus there's still medal collecting and trophy collecting, which provided tons of fun on SF64.

To some people in this thread, you really need to know what this franchise is about before making ridiculous statements.

EDIT: How is this game playable with the Pro Controller? It seems like a way to say: "try it, and you'll change to the Gamepad" XD.

the 3-1/2 hour main game is fine considering Star Fox games have always been about the multi branching path through planets- i.e. replayability.

however it is totally absurd to have the harder difficulty mode for the game locked behind buying an Amiibo. that's ridiculous and Nintendo should not get a pass on that, I mean difficulty modes are expected to be provided as a base. I have no idea what they were thinking. Also not enabling full compatibility with the pro controller makes zero sense, they have to be aware that a ton of their fans love the earlier games and are going to want as close to as they can get to the classic controller experience?

the difficulty mode blocked behind an Amiibo is literally a way to make fans hate the company, whoever made that call wasn't thinking

Should you have to pay money for an extra difficulty mode that doesn't adjust the AI or level?

Let's keep in mind that the black airwing deals twice the amount of damage tough, so would you really call it an extra difficulty mode ? Might be even easier if you're enough skilled ...

I love Nintendo but there is no exuse for essentially blocking a difficulty mode. and, yes, undoubtedly the Black Arwing version will still be much harder. it will be helpful possibly on certain bosses but I imagine it takes only a few hits for you to lose so that in no way makes up for that.

I can't even think of really any other games that had a difficulty mode blocked as a payable DLC essentially. There are examples of only UNLOCKING a difficulty mode after you beat the game or find secrets, but to charge for it? lame

At this point, my mere presence in this thread will say more about what I think about this than I could ever express in words, so I'll just hit and run on this one.

I totally agree, and I think the vast majority of us too. Well, in SF64 if you collect all the medals you unlock a hard mode. It seems that Gamexplain didn't reach that point. So, if it's locked in-game after collecting those medals, I won't complain. But we really have no info about it I think...

I'm legitimately worried about Zelda U's locked amiibo content now. Why can't amiibo content act as an early in game unlock and not exclusive dlc? Its like Nintendo is a car saleman, letting you try out a car's GPS system while test driving it. And when you're about to sign the contract, they forgot to mention that the GPS isn't part of the car but they installed it there anyway so if you want it, you got to pay more. Sure you don't have to pay for it, but what the hell Nintendo. Is it so wrong to sell those extra lines of code for hard mode for free?

Completely agree, it freaking sucks. If I were you, I'd wait for the game to drop in price or maybe seek out a friend who might own a Falco Amiibo.

So it seems I was right (I wish I wasn't) about the Black Arwing being Amiibo locked.

This is really disgusting conduct by Nintendo. There was a time not so long ago when they were held up as an example of a company that didn't screw its costumers with carved up content. Now they're a prime example of the wrong way to do DLC; locking on-disc gameplay content behind overpriced and undersupplied toys.

What next, will you need to buy Amiibo to play individual characters in the next Smash Bros?

Of all the ways Nintendo has disappointed me this generation, Amiibo is one of the most egregious.

Hmm... I said it before, but I'm stil hopeful that they locked the hardcore mode behind the medals like in SF64. If not, I'll totally suscribe your opinion. I loved the Hardcore Mode in SF64, and I'm not willing to pay for the Falcon amiibo just for a single mode. I'm not that crazy.

If there is a way to unlock the Black and Retro Arwings without Amiibo, I will whole-heartedly take back my criticism.
