That's Nintendo's plan right there. It might work really well if they put an ongoing effort in it.

That's the point, they're rewarding your loyalty to the brand. It's fitting that if you put more time in Nintendo systems, the rewards are incresingly better. If you don't play too much, you won't win a lot. That's why it's called "reward" system. There's no point in rewarding people who don't even play normally.
