Forums - Sony - MCV: PSVR Could Become The 'Must Have' Christmas Gift Of 2016

That's a lot of money for a single Christmas gift, I wonder how many parents are willing to pay for that alone plus another £300 for the system, if not another £500+ for regular gifts, if they don't spend more than that on their kids then they have less chances of buying a VR device for them, Wii numbers I can't see happening though.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

I know of a number of kids and teenagers who have had their parents spend over $1000 for a gaming pc. There's definitely a big Christmas market for this product.

Neither of the retailers actually said they thought it would sell Wii-like numbers though. They only compare it to the Wii in terms of it being a sort of must-have novelty experience in games, that will be an atteactive gift during christmas times, if your kid is a gamer and has a PS4 to usea PSVR with. (Paraphrased) No sane person would expect PSVR to sell like the Wii, and I think it's rather clear that that's not what they are trying to say either.

I don't even particularly agree with them that it will feel like a must-have in that sense, but that's what they are saying, not that they think it will sell Wii-like numbers.

"It could feel similar to the Wii’s first Christmas when it was the must-have present. "

Sure.

And then it'll be the must have paperweight of 2017! Or is that the Wii U? Or the Vita, I guess...

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Those are some spoiled and lucky kids or boyfriends/husbands

Is it not normal to see people posting that they got smartphones for their christmas?

Personally I do not see the PSVR selling Kinect numbers its first year. That price point is definitely not impulse by level. Also what is the killer app for the PSVR. Currently there isn't any must have game from my perspective.

I think just using the price itself is wrong to judge this one. We also need to consider

- Do they have a PS4 already?

- The functionality it offers justifies the price? (This is totally based on personal opinions)
