Forums - Gaming - FFXV team ambition is to sell 10 millions

It won't. FF XII & XIII have disappointed/alienated many fans (myself included). The game looks too western too be a huge seller in Japan (2.5 mil+). And the game just took way too long. I've been extremely hyper for it... untill 5 years ago or so.

But what do they mean with "succeed"? Break even? Make the profit they want?

A high target for sure. It is possible but not easy. XV has the potential to become the second VII for the franchise. I expected them to make XV-2 to maximize the profile. But the director already spoke against that.

A PC port certainly wouldn't hurt.

So lets say 1M on PC, 8-9M on PS4 and 2M on X1

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Most of the Japanese loss is offset by the rise of other Asian countries (mainly South Korea and China) so it's not a big deal if it doesn't reach 1.5-2 million in Japan.

I thought Square-Enix had learned the lesson after the "failures" that had years ago with Tomb Raider Reboot, Sleeping Dogs and Hitman: Absolution... I was obviously wrong.

Still, one thing is making the money back, and another thing is being profitable. We don't know how much money S-E wants to get with the game.

At least this guarantees the besides the PS4, X1 and PC versions, NX will also have a late port.

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

That should be easy between PS4 and PC, if the game turns out to be good.

I predict that many people will be disappointed early october.

I don't think it's outright impossible, but seems unlikely... I really don't think it's going to happen though. That's a pretty lofty goal to match their absolute best selling FF games. In FFVII case people who didn't even play RPG's got the game.

TBH I'd be willing to bet that FFVII Remake may be more likely to reach 10. It had, by far more of a reaction then anything FFXV related. It will be interesting to see how the two games do.

If they do sell 10 then good for them... but 10 to be successful... That just sounds worrying and set up for failure.

Add a FF VII Remake demo on the FFXV disc and voila!
