Of course they are all for censorship and deciding your morality and family values. That's why they employ region locking and probably even the nx will be region locked due to "licensing issues".

Flawed logic. Everything in video games is virtual, you might aswell say that age ratings in general should be removed completely because games are just virtual regardless of the imagery and ideologies they depict. |
well thats what age ratings are for
Was hoping to see some cutscene dialog changes, but am leaving disappointed as the only changes mentioned are clothing.
Do not care even a little bit on how they changed the clothing, or the bust slider.

Honestly, this just isn't true. It's a stereotype that gets parroted without any recent backing for it. Not to mention that there are several other games with the same rating, with very similar things that are just fine. If this was a game the featured Mario, you might have an argument for actual PR hit, but a niche game that very few people care about? The last time the conversation came up of holding things back from conservative market, it was Jack Thompson trying to ban GTA for being too violent. That had far more traction than any demand to have Nintendo's game censored. |
I'm really glad you listened instead of parroting the same response. (By the way, if you're gonna talk about parroting, maybe don't do so yourself!) It doesn't NEED backing. The US market is full of this conservative mentality - trust me, I live here - especially when it comes to children's products. For all intents and purposes America considers Nintendo as a whole a children's product.
If Nintendo sees the need to change insanely minor things for its other markets, especially (again) children's provocative clothing, I'm going to trust its testing and its desire for its brand image more than a tiny minority of people whining for boobies on the Internet. The distance between major, media-frenzy controversies doesn't mean that it's all suddenly fine and dandy in between. To prevent controversy and disappoint fans over something stupid is better than to risk CAUSING one for such a small minority of Nintendo's already dwindling fanbase. You don't need proof of controversy to be concerned with it altogether, and you know that.
You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt! I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading. After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

And certain ideologies should not be sold to people of any age, paedophilia is one of them. Or at least thats what our culture has decied and I'm pretty cool with that.
In the west Nintendo is seen as a company that makes products for children, it's reasonable for them to make these changes based on that fact
I personaly don't like games being changed on stupid things like these just to please conservative People, but it's nintendo

But do these changes in any way change the game? No.
Changes to dialog however have been known to take place that completely change how a game is viewed.
People ultimately need to stop caring about this petty stuff. So Lyn is wearing some shorts now with a thong, does it really matter? Sad how this is what's getting the attention instead of someone who knows Japanese and English digging into the game and seeing if there is any meaningful changes made to the story.
The organization's name (BLADE) standing for Beyond the Logos Artificial Destiny Emancipator (Japanese version), and Builders of the Legacy After the Destruction of Earth (English version) mean two seperate things. The japanese version stands for freeing ones self from the destiny perscribed by God, and the english version means inheriting the will of humanities survival after the destruction of Earth. The tone of these are completely different.
How many other story elements are changed? We'll never know, but we'll know exactly how many outfits have their boob window covered.... *sigh*

Ironically the US has hypersexualised pop culture, so thats fitting. It also has a culture whereby people are more likely to actually report cases, compared to say Japan where students going though emotionl atrwaa are encouraged to speak to western teachers due to cultural stigma's. What does general rape rates have to do with paedophilia though?

you should get my point, you wont see a japanese teen gangraped which happens in a lot of western countries now. The last time this actually happened in japan it was in fact by US marines who did it.
