Looking at the Amazon charts, it looks like people already know the performance gap between the two,:

Ps4 Version - #7
X1 Version - #81

Oh yeah, I'm sure everybody buying this game is watching the Digital Foundry analysis...

The series always sold better on Playstation even when 360 had the better performance.

What ever happened to the "Power of the Cloud" When are we going to starrt seeing this happen

It only helps with CPU stuff like physics (Crackdown buildings for example) and it only benefits games that use it.

I guess you expected the cloud to be some sort of automatic performance boost?

I think it's Demon's Souls effect.

I can tell you this, the Dark Souls fanbase knows damn well which version of the game runs better. We are talking about a niche, hardcore game with a faithful fanbase.

Dark Souls is not the type of game that little timmy buys at Gamestop by looking at the cover.

It would be pretty silly to buy the X1 version of this game if you already own a Ps4.

I remember MS announcing it as it would make your XBO 4x more powerful and stronger than the PS4 when connected to the internet.

Is he wrong to expect what was said?

I dont think so.

Im personally expecting that jump that most fans have been saying (as a Xbox One user myself) from The Cloud and DX12, but as of yet nothing has happened. Not from that, not from the unlocked cores. Im waiting...

The cloud only increases CPU processing and games have to actually utilize it. Which is why Crackdown can have a lot CPU heavy physics happening while still running well.

I know this because MS was pretty clear about that.

The series always had a bigger following on Playstation regardless of performance. A lot of games sold better on Playstation with better performance on 360.

You're giving these videos too much credit on sales.

People say "well what's the big difference between 900 and 1080?"

Well, not a whole lot, if you are just in it for the sheer gameplay experience. But, if you have the option, why not pick the one the looks and runs smoother?

From what I understand the Xbox version dips to 20fps even, at times.

It is the logical thing to do.

The video made people aware of the lower resolution and poorer performance of the Xbox One version.

If someone is a multi console owner aware of this situation, it would be pretty silly to buy the Xbox One version over the Ps4 version.

Seeing how hardcore the Dark Souls fanbase is, i would say that almost ALL (if not all) of them are aware of this.

Obviously this will impact the sales. I own both consoles but guess which version i will be buying?

P.D. i agree with you that there is a brand asociation with the franchise, that is also a factor. This time both factors concur in one console.

Exactly.
