Well, if you were doing it just for Netflix, you wouldn't have to.

I don't really know how externals work on consoles. I don't have any on mine...

So prejudice instead of experience... how surprising!

You just plug the external HDD into one of the USB-ports (they have enough power for 2.5'' drives, so no external brick needed) and set it as default drive for games in the settings. It couldn't be easier:

Awkward moment when a game needs as much memory as an entire SD card

Why would that be an awkward moment? You aren't supposed to store your game data on a slow and error prone SD card.

Also, there are different capacities of SD cards. MicroSD card go up to 200 GB (I have one in my Z5 compact) and SD cards go up to 512 GB. So several AAA-games for XBO or PS4 can fit on a SD card or even microSD card.

That situation wasn't any better in the third year of Xbox 360 or PS3, the biggest SD cards back then were 32 GB and the biggest microSD cards could hold 16 GB, so also 1 - 3 AAA-games.  And before the SDHC-standard (2006) 2 GB was the limit (or 4 GB non-standard), so good luck in storing 1 or even 2 PS2 or Xbox games on a memory card.

Just stating that games are slowly getting bigger and bigger. Heck, even 500 GB as 1 TB drives are looking way too small now.

Then just add a 2TB drive for $80 - $100 so you have 2.5 TB in total. Then you can have 20 "QB-sized" games installed at the same time (or 50 - 100 games with mixed sizes):

First world problems.

Yikes. I haven't bought a hard drive in a while...The 3DS and Wii U rarely need space(500 GB is alot for Wii U).

90 dollars is impressive though. Never thought they turned so cheap

Ah, ever tried to film with 4K camera? For one minute of film you need 5 GB one hour is 300 GB...

Funny that ten years ago I got a xbox 360 with 20 GB and felt like I never need to upgrade...It's crazy how fast it goes...

One minute is 5 GB? Ridiculous.

I have a phone with 4K capability(Note 5), but I kept it on 1080p/@60 FPS. Less space, more fluid look

Hey now, I had to buy extra space just to buy a game I wanted because it was digi only, and I was not happy about it. : P

My point isn't about the ease of doing it. It's about having to make the extra purchase for space. Consoles should have enough space so that buying extra space isn't necessary. Considering you said an external would be 80-100 dollars, that is not an extra investment I want to make.

My point is consoles should be having more space to accomodate for the bigger size games are becoming. And I hear most games require you to install them into the hardware as well. If that's the case, an external is going to be required in time, and that just doesn't sound good...

Yeah, I felt the same with my Xbox 360 "Premium" (which was already €100 more expensive than the Core version, mainly because of the meager 20 GB).

But only up to the day when the new firmware allowed the HDD-installation of games which was a blessing for my ears. Finally I could reduce the screaming time of the optical drive to a minimum. So I had to shell out another €100 for a totally overpriced proprietary 120GB HDD and had to organize a transfer cable and had to wait at least an hour until the transfer was done... hoping that nothing goes wrong in that process.

As said, the situation with the non-proprietrary HDDs this generation is much better!

Guys, i cant seem to be able to download the episodes.

I already downloaded the game, and i woukd like to preload the episodes too because with my internet, to download 75GB it will take like a fucking week.

When i try to download it, it says "bundle only" i clicked in it, and it mves me to the Quantum Break page, which i already downloaded. Am i doing something wrong?

And who decides how much space is "enough"? Some people need more space than others because they buy/play more games or because they want every bought game ready to go, some need less space because they delete the games from the HDD after they finished them. The savegames and achievements/trophies don't get deleted and a reinstallation from Blu-ray only takes a few minutes and can be done in the background while playing another (digital) game. With a fast internet connection even a reinstallation by download is bearable and can be done in the background while playing another game (retail or digital).

If Sony and Microsoft had launched the PS4 and XBO with 2 TB HDDs instead of 0.5 TB, the additional costs would have been priced in, probably $499/$599 instead of $399/$499. That would have hurt their sales and the increased comfort of many gamers in the first 1 - 2 years of their purchase would have been minimal.

I have a two TB HDD and my HDD on my Xbox One is already full. Fuck that...dude..I am going physical now. My internet isnt fast enough.
