well I can see this as long as New 3DS XL keeps beeing produced, in the end Nintendo will want those few months of 3DS sales if NX happens to bomb...

I thought the regular 3DS models were all discontinued after the N3DS and the 2DS took their place.

It seems that they were recently discontinued. My friend was able to buy a 3ds XL during February. 

That shouldn't come as much of a surprise :v it was pretty obvious that those Super Mario 3D Land 3DSXL bundles were made to clear leftover stock as fast as possible. Whatever is left in stores, must be what is left in the warehouses. The N3DSXL sells more and should be leaving more profit, seeing those cheap paint jobs they have(My MM3DSXL almost losing already around a 20% of the paint or plastic, or whatever from the lower area.), so the 3DSXL has no more reason to exist, as the better option is the N3DSXL and the cheaper option is the 2DS.

Not surprising, with the new 3DS XL the regular XL is pretty much irrelevant.

Nintendo are ceasing production of Nintendo.

The original 3DS has been discontinued for a long time so this wouldn't be too surprising
