Lol, I guess you can call me as sane as the general market who was and still could be thinking that the WiiU and 3DS are part of the Wii and DS hardware revision.

No, you are definitely worse. You can't feign ignorance on the behalf of NX sporting the same brandname as a previous Nintendo system. Nevermind that you have a clearly higher interest in video games than the general market because you have posted several thousand times on this forum.

You have no excuse. Hang your head in shame.

Okay, okay. But it would be interesting to see if people classify it as a half gen upgrade if the PS4.5 and Xbox Too releases close to NX launch since the Wii U hasn't live that long in the market so far. Especially if it has the same power/build as the PS4 and One this time so people may be comparing the power difference and not the time frame.

new generation I am sure......

Switch!!!

I think Nintendo needs to rebrand it... Wii U hasn't worked!

To be honest, the concept of generations is something that's best left for the history books. That said, I think NX will still be considered gen 8. This will probably be the most confusing gen though, what with NX, PS4.5, whatever's going on with the X1 upgrades...

Maybe we should reconsider WiiU to be Gen 7, so we can consider NX Gen 8, otherwise Gen 9 will be quite spread out. Now how we're going to fit both Wii and WiiU in Gen 7 is another story though.

Wii X  :)

What could possibly go wrong? (nintendo logic)

I really hope nintendo starts useing numbers, and just sticks with a name.

Call it the "Nintendo 1" or something, "wii 2", just get a number in there so people cant mistake a old console for a new.

Then stick with a name, build brand on that name.

If it's as powerful as the ps4/X1 I'd say they are joining the gen late rather than starting a new one early. If it's a lot more powerful I'd say they are jump starting the new gen early.

After reading about the current rumors about the PS4K I don't think it as much as a 4.5 rather then a PS4 2000 which is just an attempt to keep the system alive longer much like they did with the PSP, though the problem with that is they may run into the problem they ran into at the end of last generation. It was just too long and many people lost interest and moved on to PC and other forms of gaming.

It's the next generation for Nintendo, that's all that really matters. Doesn't need to fit under an industry umbrella

When your console fails and you put it on the back burner only to release a console that matches consoles 2 years older that it, I'd say it's current gen. When the "improvements" being made are in order to match the specs of old tech then there's no way you can call your product "next gen".
