I know it very well.
What does that add to the discussion?
XBO was also a console targeting 1080p games.
Is it strange to expect the major graphical showcases to hit that?
I'm pretty sure Gears of War 4 will.

If you know it very well, then what would it matter that a game built specifically for the PS4 would run better than a multiplatform game designed for a weaker console?

Xbone has plenty of 1080p games. And idk, is it strange that a game that apparently doesn't hit native 1080p still looks amazing?

Gears of War very well could hit 1080p and still not look as good as Quantum Break does.

It's kind of sad that years into the generation gamers are still so close minded regarding resolution. 1080p or bust, LOL.

I think it has more to do with the fact that they were told it would be 1080p.

It doesn't warrant the poor performance. The only other game to run at 720p and 30fps is SW Battlefront and we all know DICE outright sucks with optimization...

Isn't Battlefront 60fps though? And by my experience it runs very smooth. And looks good. QB also seems to be solid 30fps, how is that a bad performance?

It's actually 30 fps...

Battlefront is 60fps.

720p/60FPS.

Omg people cancelling their preorder only because of a stupid number. smh

To be fair getting a pre-order for a game that is will be available everywhere upon release is pretty stupid in the first place.

No, it's not. As far as I'm aware, Dead Rising 3 is the only other 720p/30fps game on the Xbox One.

As for the larger topic, I think the surprise here comes from there not being a really obvious reason as to why this game should only be 720p/30fps. The game looks really good, but it's not the only really good looking game on the Xbox One and from what we've seen so far, it's quite linear.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Interesting how some XBO fans have given up on demanding the most out of their HW and instead pretend resolution doesn't matter anymore. There are a few reasons the PS4 is ahead of the XBO, and the power/higher res is one of them.

Of course, if Uncharted 4 turned out to not be 1080p, I'm sure they wouldn't have anything to say about that.

Modern era gaming. Praise in  Digital Foundry+ highmetacritic is now mandatory to enjoy a game.

What are you even into? Who said 1080p or bust? Don't quote me for petty talk, please.

About the PS4, curl was talking about PS4 on his post, that's why I put in there, a graphical power house is supposedly (still not confirmed) 720p on XBO when another is 1080p on PS4, as he was saying sub-1080p games on PS4 were common as a comparision to a sub 900p game on XBO, so he was not shocked with the possibility, I came and leveled his comparision with the graphical power house on PS4 not being sub 1080p, that's it.

His point was enough sub-1080p games have existed on both platforms that he is not surprised any time a game fails to reach 1080p. And it's a perfectly valid point. Why else are there such strong rumors about both companies trying to release more powerful versions of the same consoles we already own? They struggle to consistently hit 1080p. PS4 less than Xbox One, but again, it's more powerful.

If DF is correct and the game isn't 1080p, then they clearly valued their special effects and other tech over a higher resolution. Which would mean that no, they aren't targeting the highest resolution anymore. And it can still be a graphical showcase for the Xbox One. The game still looks amazing. And it's not as if they can't sacrifice in other areas to hit 1080p. Plenty of Xbone games are 1080p.

edit, that last warning came after I hit reply. I removed the one sentence containing U4.

So by your take I guess you hate uncharted, Gears etc etc. That's fine.

Quantum Break is heavy on storytelling. Many sequences where theres no shooting. Theres some mild puzzles, platforming, story controlled segments and combat. Personally I love a game to tell a good emotional story. I hope it does well so developers keep pushing singleplayer storytelling in the medium.

Alan Wake was bad from both storytelling and repetitive gameplay sides. Didn't played Uncharted, but, yeah, Gears of War was extremely bland. Even co-op didn't help.

Well I disagree. Alan Wake was my 2nd favourite game last gen. The storytelling was awesome. From the narrative to the TV episode feel. Brilliant.
