No dpad would make it useless for many fighting games. A pad like this would force also the thirds to put extra efffort into making games for it. I hope we will get a more conventionell pad.
Lol this looks horrible, hopefully its fake.
Pretty much confirms no third party support.
Why cant they make a normal controller.
No third party devs are gonna spend extra time & money for haptic controls.
If this turns out real, alternate controller aside, I'm guessing Nintendo will provide options for pseudo physical buttons. Maybe a clip on, silcon rubber overlay of some sort, could turn haptic on or off etc.

Seriously though - this controller looks like an ergonomic tragedy

Neither did the Wiimote before it was announced. |
The wiimote to me always looked like a NES controller so there was design cues to be found there. This, though I want to express I see zero percent chance this is real, has noting that has any feeling of Nintendo and the 'feel' and overall look just screams bad attempt at copying a patent drawing. Just because those drawings are extremely basic rarely translates into the product looking as basic and generic.
Personally, I think it looks fine. Controllers don't always need to be batarang shape to be comfy and good.
Glad the WiiU gamepad concept is still around, but slimmed down in some way.
I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
I don't see any grips on that leaked NX controller like the patent showed.
