I wonder why they use 2 different currencies... Rewards are looking goooooood.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Image doesn't work (try not using the ones of nintendo everything, they never work for some reason).

Rewards are amazing, and it seems like I'm gonna have to use miitomo in order to get some points.

Nice, if everything updates by itself, this is already looking a lot better than Club Nintendo

40% Majora's Mask 3D would be great!

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

Very, very good rewards. With 3/4 WiiU games, you'll probably have enough points to "buy" a new one by MyNintendo. Also, up to 50% discount in several games. And TP:Picross is true! 1000 Platinum points are easy to achieve, that will me my main goal. Just open MyNintendo in Europe, please! Well, I'm a bit worried because I'm not sure if you could get Gold Points purchasing physical games, but, if the rewards are worth it I might go full digital.

Ugh, I've had the same problem with them. Right now I can't seem to find any other website reporting on the news with the same image. I guess they're too quick.

bet: lost

Being rewarded for playing and completing objectives/achievements within games is pretty damn awesome actually! Now if they would just expand that to games that aren't miitomo. :L

Rewards are also pretty nice to start off with, though only one interest me being MM3D.

My first response was this.

Why are they using two currencies when they both do the same thing? Like it makes no sense. I thought gold points got you software and coupons and platinum got you the knick knacks, but this confuses the whole point of having split currencies. My only guess it that the physical stuff isn't ready yet since those have to be manufactured, so platinum points are only temporarily useful for coupons and such until they get all the other stuff ready and you're not just earning a bunch of points you can't use yet.

EDIT: So I looked at the official slide and it says that Platinum Points are used for "Digital Content," with the slide showing stuff like 3DS themes and wallpapers, while gold points were specifically stated to be for coupons and digital games. In light of this clear deliniation, I think the intent is obvious. Look at how you get most Platinum Points. Playing Miitomo. They want to get Nintendo fans to be first adopters of Miitomo by giving them easy ways to get discounts on games by playing. That's how they plan on making a success. LMFAO, fucking bribery! Literally all they have to do is make a commercial saying "play our mobile game and you can get Mario Kart 8 for 20% off."

Ahem... Anyway, the rewards will look much better when they're on the NX.

You know. Because it'll be all digital. Meaning you have to earn Gold points constantly. Meaning you will get points for coupons and free games, meaning the NX My Nintendo will be the Nintendo equivalent to Steam with it's massive sales and discounts, just like I said.

The thing that makes me curious is this - Why specific games? Like why aren't the coupons general? Are they going to cycle them out every month like with Club Nintendo? Because that's stupid. I mean, I guess it's smart for Nintendo, but it's not a good look if you want a specific game that's not on the list. I guess the point is to wait for it, but it seems to be artificially bottlenecking the program. I assume it's because Nintendo has to work out deals to get third parties to participate, meaning they just can't give more general coupons, which makes sense. It's a lot like PS Plus in that way, at least from a business sense. Let's see how far that goes.

That being said, this is still fantastic, and in a lot of ways a lot better than how I imagined it working. It's just also a lot worse in many ways lol. Especially the amount of gold coins you need to get the discounts. I think they should lower it a lot. The carrot is too far atm. That being said, long term this may not be that big of a deal, especially if you are already in the habit of buying software.

Super interesting, though. My Nintendo is the core of the NX, Iwata said that, so everyone should be keeping a VERY keen eye on how this shapes out, because this will be something that will telegraph a lot of how NX will work.
