Forums - Nintendo - I think third party devs have a mindset that gimped Wii games will sell anyways....

Well if you look at games like Zack & Wiki and Carnival games you can see that 3rd party developers may have a reason to take that approach.

Invest little money into casual game and get good returns as opposed to invest more money into a better game which isn't well suited for casual gamers and make less money. If you looked at it strictly from a business standpoint what would you do??

Like I've written countless times; if dev's are faced with possibilities

A: The Wii

B: The 360/PS3/PC

most will opt for option B, which is a consequence of making a different product based on different and less conventional principals.
It may be a little blunt and sound too simple, but I think this is the reality and what will define this gen as differences are vast and approcahes are rather few and unflexible compared to last gen.

Why do third parties need to put any effort into the system, you guys will keep buying shitty games no matter what, Sega made a game that is less then par in S&M Olympics and you guys have bought over 4mil copies. Along with all the PS2 ports and games that take about 1month to make, i see no reason to put any effort into wii games for the time being.

You do realize that even if the Wii were on par with the PS3/360, they still wouldn't be getting those games? All the 3rd-party games last gen were PS2/XB or PS2 only, very few actually reached the GC. They're still in a better position now.

Well Rock Band Wii with no online play equals a no buy for me. I won't settle for less there.

As for the topic name I do think 3rd party devs think that way. They see Wii as an opportunity platform, but only for opportunists cheapskates. Really pissing me off.

So, first people stated that 3rd party wii games don't sell.......since then it has shifted to 3rd paty wii games sell so much, that devs don't need to make any quality at all? Interesting.

I have never said Third party wii games don't sell, i have always said that First party games will always sell more no matter what the game is.

What about PS3 fans, who have gimped and glitchy versions of nearly everything multiplatform with the 360? These games bombs for the same reason shovelware on the system does: PS3 owners look at their purchases very carefully.

Frankly, all the Wii version of Rock Band needs to do is get a little hype and advertising and the few complainers will be overcome by the casual masses.

2000 called. They want their arguments back. And if you could kindly switch "Wii" back to "PS2", and "PS3" and "360" back to "DreamCast" before you ship them, they'd really appreciate it.

To those who continue to argue that the Wii will somehow defy all historical trends and suddenly drop off the face of the planet, making way for the PS3 or 360 to dominate in its place: what you want reality to be and what reality is do not necessarily equal one another. You may be amazed to learn that what you want it to be has much lower priority than what it is. Kindly learn this lesson and stop making ridiculous claims that can only be backed with "because I want it to happen". That is not an argument. It barely qualifies as a belief.
