Do you think VR is worth the price?

Hell Yeah! its unique, and looks fun 90 65.69%

No. I could buy another c... 47 34.31%

Total:137

There's already a thread like this asking if people will buy with a better poll.  Anyway, I'll probably buy when it releases if there's plenty of good games for it or I might wait til next year for more years and a cheaper price as well.

I already have a 1000 games to play but I have never played any VR games. So that choice is easy. Something new, or more of the same.

Btw the kinect spying conspiracies went hand in hand with the always online requirement. But no worries, since you have a headset on they can't recognize you :p

Instead the Goverment can have a nice look at your room while the PS Camera studies you.. Interesting stuff. Alot of gamers blew Kinect out of the water because they didnt want a camera looking at them, yet there probably posting on there Smart phone or there built in Web Cams. Either way its funny how it goes from hate to love real quickly all because another brand does it. While they complained about 1 camera looking at them (Kinect), there willing to accept 2 cameras (PSVR, PS Camera) instead with high praise lol

I doubt the government is interested in looking at your room, ie until some computer program flags you for saying something online or on the phone :p That's the world we live in now, cameras everywhere, always connected smart phones with built in gps and front and backwards facing cameras. And I bet a lot of people stare into their phone a lot more than anything else :)

We just got a call from out credit card company, somehow they found out I used my wife's credit card and got a bit worried. The only place I used it recently was at a self checkout. Do these things take pictures? How the heck did they know. Cameras everywhere!

Why would I want to do that? I have a PS4 and a Wii U, why would I buy an Xbox One that has 95% the same games I can already play over PSVR which is 100% new experiences?

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

VR in general seems to be a hot topic. Now that we have the confirmed price of PSVR which will cost $399 / €399 /£349 / AUD$549. I see a lot of gamers get excited over these devices but let’s look at the price. The cheapest VR Unit is the PSVR, however it cost more than a XB1 and WiiU. Is VR worth its price considering what you can buy with $400+? You could buy a VR device and enjoy the games, don’t know if any of the games will be good. Or you could spend the money on another platform which will offer you 1000+ more games and quality ones as well.

Also what ever happen to those worrying gamers that hated Kinect because they didn’t want to get spied on? Now Gamers are happy to fork out $$$ for a head and deck camera? Lol what an odd generation.

I will wait until the hype dies down in my opinion. Feels like another trend that will be short lived.

What do you think of VR, is it worth the price tag?

Being forced to purchase something is a bit different then having a choice wouldn't you think, I mean you had to buy the Kinect (on launch) with the PSeye though you have a choice. I think that may have been why people were so up in arms about it. Also no one has shelled out any $$$ becuase we have no base to know what the sales are of these VR products, or do you think that it will just be a huge success and that everone will have VR within a couple of years? Cuz the rest of your post doesnt seem to look that way.

Because Microsoft was caught with their pants down providing the government (NSA specifically) a backdoor key to anything the NSA wanted, encrypted or not. So to announce in that same year that you're releasing a console that has a forced in camera and is always on, requires a daily Internet checkin, with facial/voice recognition? Hmm that doesn't sound fishy.

Its easy to see why the Kinect has been shunned. Beyond the scope of that argument, you're comparing a camera that augments you onto the tv vs a headset that immerses you in an electronic world not yet explored by the general population. I don't think there's any kind of hypocritical thinking involved in wanting virtual reality

It's too expensive now, but maybe when the price drops in the future, it will be more popular... pure speculation of course

I agree with your first paragraph, that's why I need to try it first to determine if it provide a new experience or it is just a gimmick. Can't determine the real value until I try it.

For an add on to a current console £150 is my max. I actually think All 3 console manufacturers should have waited till next gen and just get Oculus Rift support. Because no doubt the R&D for PSVR is huge. And if it sells lacklustre its gonna hurt financially. Rift had years of high end R&D, and Sony, MS and Nintendo could have supported it in 2020 no problem.

Nobody in their right mind would choose VR over another console, we're talking about actual games vs shovelware here.

Blows my mind that gamers made a big deal about Nintendo for being gimmicky and how dumb they looked in their living room playing the Wii only to turn around and pay 400$ to look like jackasses in their living room with the oldest gimmick there is which is VR. Hilarious.
