Forums - Sony - PSVR price: $399/€399/£349+more in OP, coming October

I'd recommend snagging used Move controllers right now. Last one I bought was $10 in great condition, and when this thing launches they'll surely sell them in pairs at $50 brand new.

Of course, there's a chance Sony might release some 'Move 2.0' controllers or something, but I kind of doubt that.

So... for someone who doesn't have a PS4... You're looking at...

350+400+60+50... so... 860 dollars. Ouch.

For the average PS4 Owner who needs either the move or the camera, you're looking at 450-500...

I don't see this taking off at these prices. VR may be a part of gaming's future, but the price has to come down first.

I know! Gamestop doesn't even have a page for it up yet!

Though, Sony said pre-orders will go live tonight I think.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

$499 including camera and move
that's not really cheap...

Hmmm...with Amazon having both the Move controller and cam under $100, $471 is the max you'd spend, there. Considering the only alternative is Oculus, that's much more reasonable.

Your missing another alternative.  Nothing.

With a situation like the PS4/XBone/Gaming PC, you pretty much need to buy one of them if you're interested in playing anything besides Nintendo games.  So... the price battle is pretty important.

When you're dealing with an add on though, it's not really essential to gamers.  So, it's not enough to be the cheapest option, but it also has to be a good value in and of itself.

You could take this with a grain of salt since I don't like Sony very much, but I think Occulus will sell more at this price.  I see the kind of gamer who buys a gaming PC as more likely to buy a luxury add on like this, even if they're paiying 100 or 150 bucks more.

As for PSVR, if Sony is making a profit on the actual unit, then it might be decent for them.  But, it's not going to have the same kind of success as the NX.  It's a niche product for now.  If that's their expectation, that's fine.  But if they're hoping it will really take of.......

Cost more than a PS4 youch.

Not sure if I'll get PSVR specifically in the future but I'll probably eventually get into a VR platform when the technology improves a lot.

I've only tried Oculus DK2 (out of 3 big ones, plus GearVR on mobile), but I was sold instantly. Still, I'll most likely wait and see what 2nd gen devices are bringing before I jump in.

My bet would be that at worst by the 3rd gen VR headsets will have at least 210 vertical/130 horizontal FOV (like StarVR), eye tracking (like FOVE), be wireless and probably come with gloves.

I wouldn't purchase it unless it has good games. I seen a .gif of some those vr games and it looks either bad or it is stale.
