They shouldn't have relied so heavily on Halo's expanded universe for the reclaimer trilogy. I can't keep up with the story and I own every Halo game on every platform they have been released on, hopefully they can bring it together with Halo Wars 2 this year and I can then eat my words.

Halo 4 things were getting difficult to grasp... Halo 5 I had no idea what the hell was going on, I actually had to jump online and do some reading to work out what was happening and build some backstory with the characters that we were introduced.
Halo 4 though I actually enjoyed to a degree.

Halo 3 was the pinnacle in my eyes for the entire franchise story wise, it just brought everything together nicely, I will never forget the horrible cliff-hanger that was in Halo 2... You would think 343 wouldn't repeat the mistakes of the past... But they did.

All trilogies tend to feel unfinished in the middle act though. The Matrix, Star Wars, Mass Effect, Lord Of The Rings, Halo. I think like most other trilogies the final act will make the 2nd act feel better. Many people now love Halo 2 after 3. Because it fits now.

That's very true and hope it works out for 343.
I do want the Halo franchise to stick around for a long time to come. But less Req and less convoluted story though please. :P

Yeah no reqs. Cards are fine. perhaps like Titanfall?

99% of the gaming industry needs better writers. The other 1% made TLOU.

The PS5 Exists.

Yes. And better managment of the multiplayer content too, IMO.

reqs are a lot better than burn cards. burn cards require no skill. reqs require energy you earn. that being said i average less than 3 deaths per titanfall match and around 19 kills on pilots so i never run out of my cards and my entire deck is gold/star i forget what the rarity is called (been about six months since i last played), but about half are just titans i can call in the start of the match. i am a diamond 5 in titanfall love the game, but the burn card system is broken casual garbage.

I am amazed that people in this thread actually think the Halo 4 campaign was good. I guess Halo really is in the hands of a new generation. Even when Halo 4 was released it was more hated than any game I have ever seen in my life and that's the official waypoint forums I am talking about. 343i were literally banning everybody and his mom because of the backlash.

Halo 4 was well written and paced. They will learn. Also, while I don't mind Locke.... MASTER CHIEF IS THE FRONTMAN OF THE HALO BAND!

343 needs better everything.

Hear, hear.

The Halo series has really suffered under 343. What was once the premiere console FPS is now just another also-ran.

The story is planned for the next 20 years. Cortana being corrupted by the domain is just part of the grand arc.

The marketing playing up the hunt when it wasn't about it isn't 343's fault......MS should fire their marketing for that blunder.

The story is fine.....for extended unviverse fans. We saw Sanghelios, the Domain was finally referenced in the game! We saw the Arbiters keep and his ancient Kaidon armor.

Halo 5 was a build up game, made to set up the slate for whats coming. Halo 2 did the same thing, but time has been kind to that one.

As a fan since the beginning, it is the best campaign.....if you read the books.

Most Halo fans are multiplayer centric, and play the campaigns for what they are and don't look deeper......they can't even bother to google the extended universe.

Halo 1-3 had a plot our grandmother could follow (at its core). Aliens threaten to wipe us out, the Flood are another alien that kills everything, and you are humanitys last hope. Fantastic.

Halo 4 however goes deep in the EU and thats where the so-called fans get confused. They prefer Chief stayed an unfeeling robot-soldier? They didn't like Cortana rampancy showing unfiltered emotions? The Didact meant nothing to them as he was just some random alien? People didn't like the cutting edge graphics and finally seeing Forerunner building that were active for a change? Guess people prefered inert structures from 1-3 and didn't like seeing Prometheans at all......considering how important they were during the Flood-Forerunner war (sign).

As someone who read the Forerunner novels, the DIdact was an epic moment for me.....I finally saw him! I hung onto his every word. Dripping with references to the novels. The final battle aboard his ship, with the soundtrack title "Arrival" playing.........it was like the human-forerunner wars were back. But THIS time, humans would win. This time, the Didact wouldn't decimate humanity like they did milenia ago. That songs crecendo gave the player hope that this time, humanity will win, that you are the hero of humanity and the Librarian was right to trust in you.

Halo 4 begun the process to weed out the so-called lore fans. The most popular retort is "but the games should stand on their own". No. Look what happened to Star Wars. Decades of extended universe......RETCONNED. Because the majority of fans only watched the movies and couldn't be bothered to delve into the lore. I am glad 343 won't make the same mistake.
