When I write Vulkan group I mean Vulkan Work Group those who are in charge of the standard. Being a member of the Khronos group doesn't mean you're involved in every technology they own.

Microsoft aren't doing any vulkan work. The only reason they are member of the Khronos Group is because IE and Edge use WebGL in their Javascript API and they have an interrest in the standard.

Apple are still on the work groups but yes they don't really do much anymore. They were actually part of the Vulkan Work group to begin with which you prob. know but departed before it really started.

I guess you're discussing semantics when you say Khronos group vs Vulkan group but Nintendo are part part of the Vulkan work group.

See page 4: https://www.khronos.org/assets/uploads/developers/library/overview/vulkan-overview.pdf

Sony is a member of the Vulkan working group but you don't see them using it on the PS4 ...

I still stand by the belief that Nintendo will not use Vulkan, period ...

vulkan was not ready yet tho... was announced last year.

Vulkan isn't something new. Consoles already had low-level graphics APIs, it's the whole reason for their existence.

Yeah but.. sony use their own api (I think?) and MS use DX12(?) (which can work on windows).

If nintendo use vulkan, instead of makeing their own api, it means they can easily port things to android, and many programmers that already make android apps, will easily be able to have them also running on the NX.

Why? Maybe Nintendo want to also profit from games selling on Smart phones and tablets (not just the NX).

Sony is actually on the "board of promotors" of Vulkan, while both Microsoft and Nintendo are members. Something to keep in mind - all of your assumptions might be just that - assumptions. This doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Nintendo will probably use a tweaked and trim down version of vulkan and call it their own.

is sony using a proprietary API or third party? maybe they have a contract? idk, I just assume (like a lot of people) that with all the rumours,"NX will be an easy machine to port", they would use something like this.

They use a proprietary API like almost every other major console manufacturers and what contract is stopping Sony from putting out Vulkan drivers on their OWN platforms like the PS4 ?

Easy porting ? Vulkan should be next to the last thing for such a purpose since it's much more verbose than the alternatives. Nintendo would be better off just making something comparable to DX11 or GNMX on the NX ...
