Forums - Nintendo - NX launch line-up if or, let's be honest, when it releases this year?

Too bad Geno/Dual Pixels is full of shit. Though Luigi's Mansion 3 is probably in development for the NX, it's a no-brainer after how well the last one sold.

Gosh, I really hope they're doing a Luigi's Mansion for NX, because I LOVED the one on the 3DS and another one for home console would be GLORIOUS.

Another wet dream of mine is a Kid Icarus like Uprising for home console, pls Sakurai.

Well Next Level definitely works on something except Your Shape Fitness Evolved, there are good chances for Luigi's Mansion 3.

I already wrote, "hype, sales and mass apeling of 3D Mario and Luigi's Mansion can't be compared". I dont think those games would cannibalize each other.

After Wii U Nintendo really need biggest guns on launch, Mario 3D World arrived on Wii U when platform basically already was dead.

LM2 sold 4.5m which is more the SM3DW, the's not much separating the two as hype and so on goes, hyped games cannabalize each other that is why Nintendo avoids releasing notable first party games at the same time.

3DW arrived holiday launch year it was fine, Wii U's problem was that they launched with out a top tier game at all and it wasn't marketed for 2 whole years look at Wii it launched with TP and Galaxy arrived at the same launch window as 3DW so 3D Mario was not the problem, NX having the rumoured LM3 would certainly mean 3D Mario is not launching with the platform especially if it's like the rumour says and the game is meant to show what the system can do. On top of that the's the likely chance of a Zelda U port and Pikmin 4, the's no way Nintendo would launch with all 4 of these.

I kind of feel like we're all going a little overboard on these potential launch lineups. Zelda port, Smash port, Pikmin 4, LM3, new 3D Mario, BG&E2....I just feel like it's all a bit much. We're setting ourselves up for disappointment

Im gonna be safe and say:

Zelda Wii U

Pikmin 4

Call of Duty 2016

Skylanders

Disney Infinity

Watch Dogs 2

Super Mario 3D World sold 4.6m on 31. December on instal base of 12.5m, Luigi's Mansion on 31. December sold 4.75m on instal base of 58m. We talking about launch of new console not about any other date in life of console, Nintendo console needs strong launch titles, especially after Wii U faile.

Wii had Wii Sports and Zelda TP, there is no chance that Nintendo will have something popular like Wii Sports again, so best they can do is to have new 3D Mario and Zelda U, those two game are very strong launch titles.

New 3D Mario in any case is much better launch title (actually one of best for Nintendo platform) than Luigi's Mansion, like I wrote hype, sales and mass apeling of 3D Mario and Luigi's Mansion can't be compared, 3D Mario is one of biggest Nintendo IPs, Luigi Mansion is niche IP in comparison. New 3D Mario or Pikmin 4 can also show what system can do.

Of Course we will not have all those titles on launch, but realistically, Zelda U port is almost certain, in June last year Miyamoto said Pikmin 4 is almost finished, new 3D Mario is right on track to be released at end of this year, IMO those games have best chance to be launch titles. Regardles other posible titles, I dont recall rumour said that BG&E2 is launch game, Smash port is also very posible but I dont think it will be launch title either, Next Level definitely working on NX game posible LM3, Retro is working on NX game also we had rumor about Diddy Kong Racing 2 long ago...

I would caution against thinking that, 'since the last game in this franchise released X years ago, then we should be on track for a new game this year.' You just never know.

Also, I know Miyamoto said Pikmin 4 is almost done, but I'm not necessarily sure that means it will be an NX launch game. I hope all this is correct, but I'm just saying it could easily not.

Off course you never know, but we talking with facts on our minds, Mario Galaxy 1 was released in 2007, Mario Galaxy 2 in 2010 and Mario 3D World in 2013, and Nintendo itself said Mario 3D games require around 2.5-3 years of development, so there are good chances we will see new 3D Mario at end of this year or in worst case in first year.

Of Course nothing is certain till Nintendo say itself, but there are very good chances we will see Pikmin 4 also like launch title, if we dont see like launch title I am sure we will see it in 1st year.

Wii Sports only became notable once the Wii took off before launch no one and I mean no one touted it as a strong launch title, the launch window was driven by TP early on then the Wii's marketing did the rest, Zelda is in fact a better launch title for today's market as seen with the Wii while Mario has shown to be a better holiday title now days, Zelda U with LM3 is a good balance going by what the rumor is saying.

Userbase size as we've seen in other threads has little bearing on first party titles selling as both PS4 and X1 have outsold the Wii U yet the latter's first party has outsold most games on the former, someone earlier mentioned that LM2 gave the 3DS a 30% spike in sales on arrival, that's more than what 3DW did for the U. Wii U failed because of how Nintendo handled it overall, I'll tell you straight Zelda and Mario will never launch at the same time because of the cannabalization of tier 1 IPs, Nintendo would rather release them in different windows to maximize sales from each of them and Mario will not launch with LM because they're from the same central IP, LM becoming a strong IP can however launch with Zelda as they're different IPs and tiers.
