Forums - Nintendo - Square and the Wii...

How do you think Square will support the Wii? With the huge advantage in Japan do you see the Wii getting some of Square's more Japanese centric games? Will DQ, or any other major series from SE make it on to the Wii?

Personal prediction would be that FF games will stay on HD consoles(FF games have always been about stunning graphics), however, DQX, KHIII, FF:CC, and if they make one, the next Chrono game will be on the Wii.

So how do you see it.

At least some one major franchise on the wii, but don't know which one.

I think Final Fantasy will remain of PLAYSTATION...

The rest will be on wii or PS360 or DS/PSP

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I don't know about final fantasy being all graphics. If you look at the games on the ps1 they looked bad. This is for the ps1 a console 3 times graphically inferior to the nintendo 64. The graphics also weren't to good in the nes/snes games. Final Fantasy games are good for their artistic quality. Yet the next main series ff is going to ps3 I could see them coming back to nintendo for the one after that.

The wii basically gets all of the other series than the main ff. The wii is outselling ps3 2:1 in japan so you would see more japan centric games on it. Square will still support the ps3 , but not as much as the ps1/ps2.

I also see new ips on the wii by square. Square seems to be one of the few 3rd parties who are actually supporting the wii.

So long as Chrono Trigger gets launched to the Virtual Console, I'll be happy. My interest in Final Fantasy as a whole has waned over the years.

If Dragon Quest IX sells well (which it no doubt will in Japan at least), then DQX could be either on the DS or Wii, but I would almost guess the DS would get that.

DQ always heads to the a.that.m most succesful console/handheld available in Japan... Which would mean DQ9 for DS (as is...) and DQ10 for Wii...

THE NETHERLANDS

Given the incredible amount of support SE has been giving the DS this year and last, I would expect that if the Wii keeps following the same trends it'll see an SE explosion by next year.

Square's 3 pillars before they merged with Enix were: Final Fantasy - Mana - SaGa

Square Enix's 3 pillars now are: Dragon Quest - Final Fantasy - Kingdom Hearts

If the Wii gets any of these games that will be huge support. We already know KH3, Mana, and an FFXIII game are going to the Wii. What I'm wondering about is where SaGa is going to go. Probably DS...

Dragon Quest is certain to end up on Wii sooner or later. Final Fantasy series will remain to Playstation brand or go Xbox multiplatform.

All other small franchises that do best in Japan are bound to go to either the Wii or the portables.

When was a Final Fantasy XIII game ever mentioned for the Wii?  I've never heard of that.  I know Squeenix is making two FFXIII games for the PS3, and there was an FFXII side-story on the DS, but I haven't heard about this.  You sure you're not thinking of the well-known Crystal Chronicles games?
