The guys I usually play with (very good friends of mine) love killing each other. Whether it's LC ToO, Gauntlet or Helldivers, they always end up starting a play fight that results in everyone dying. I think that's what put me off the most lol

If you're in the same group, you can't kill each other.

What you really have to watch out for in the DZ are people baiting you into attacking, which then makes you a rogue agent, and makes everyone want to kill you for the loot you may be carrying and the experience you get for killing rogue agents.

You can tell when an agent is carrying loot in the DZ because they have a big bright bag hanging from their backpack. Loot in the DZ is contaminated with the virus so before you can use it in the rest of the game, you have to call in a chopper at designated extraction zones to have it removed. So you go to these zones and call one in, that's when the real tension begins. You see NPC enemies running around, human agents, some of them have the bright bags on their backs so you know they are there to try and get their goods out, others you see no bags so it's a guessing game of whether they are there to help, or to steal.

The most common tactic by trolls now is to wait until there is about 20 seconds before the chopper arrives, then kill you, then they have a chopper right there so they can extract your stuff. You'll respawn close enough to the extraction zone to meet up with them before they lose their rogue status most likely, but your shit is gone.

Tonight my brother and I rolled up on an extraction zone both needing to extract. We called in the chopper and waited. You always get a rush of other agents coming, and there are always AI enemies who spawn at the extraction zones. Well, these three guys arrive, none of them have bags on their backs, they're almost guaranteed to be there to kill people with loot and steal it. But to our surprise, they help take out the AI bots and my brother and I extract. But these three other guys come in, and one of the original other three who had helped us out, throws out this stun grenade and deafens and blinds all three of the new guys. Well, they assume they are under attack and fire at the grenade thrower. They all three go rogue. They kill the guy who threw a grenade at them but then they are all killed by the remaining 4 of us. My brother grabs some loot one of them dropped and he extracts two bags on one chopper. So this guy literally hit three people with a grenade that slows, stuns, and blinds them, but he did not go rogue by doing that because it actually does no damage. But they went rogue because they fired back with bullets.

About 30 minutes later we are back at the same extraction and we have called in another extract. One guy with no bag is staying behind us, we know what is coming. The rope comes down to attach your loot, the same three guys who had died earlier all start firing on us. My stuff got attached before I died, my brothers did not. One of them kills him, picks his loot up, and extracts it. We respawn, and kill all three of them. He lost some loot but got a lot of money and DZ XP for killing three rogue agents.

It's an extremely unique atmosphere and something that really sets is apart from something like Destiny. You shouldn't be afraid of the DZ. Plus it's the easiest place to get good loot. Just gotta get it extracted!

That sounds really cool. I thought your own team could kill you and take your loot.

Might give this a shot when my friends decide to pick it up. At the moment we are all waiting for DS3. I think we got burned by Destiny pretty hard. It's made us more vigilant when it comes to these games.

This sounds like something I'd play, I was kind of turned off by the always online component, but at the same time, I kind of want a decent cover shooter to play again. I thought people had turned on them altogether. I think I'll wait a little longer to see if all the bugs have been ironed out.

I'm loving it. Awesome MMO. IMO blows Destiny clean away. Also no one is playing Destiny in my friends list anymore. Bungie could learn a few things from Ubisoft in this new suedo genre.

Yes, craps on Destiny from great heights. I literally cannot think of a single thing Destiny does that is superior.

I'm only a few hours in, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. Have yet to reach the ominous Dark Zone, but so far it's a total blast.

Environments? Weird guns?

New York is very samey the whole way through, ditto the guns. They really should have done something with central park just to get a different environment In there.

I'm struggling to figure out how I feel about this game. I've put quite a few hours in so I must like it, but at the same time it's not blowing me away. The dark zone is definitely a concept Id like to see other loot games steal.

You can boot them from the group if they got something great and kill them for it I believe.  Real dick move, but an option in the game it would seem.

OT:

Currently I am level 28 and DZ rank 3.  Haven't spent much time in the DZ at all obviously, but very much enjoying the game's story content.  While the story is rather bare bones, it is still all included within the game, which is a great breath of fresh air compared to Destiny's grim cards.  I enjoy that the higher level enemies seem to have a bit more intelligence to them.  At level 5 I recall enemies just hanging in the open.  At 28 they all seem to immediately dive for cover.

A lot of what I have been reading about endgame content has been a bit disappointing though.  Apparently there is already a challenge mode mission that makes getting the phoenix credits for the great weapons ridiculously easy.  Also have been hearing that the DZ at 30 isn't the best place for items, but this one mission loop.  Gotta see it for myself though.  Already have almost 30 hours in the game, so as far as I figure it I have already gotten my money's worth.

Hit level 30 in the base game last night. Been really sick the last week or so and barely played the game. I think I am level 26 or so in the DZ. So I can finally group up with friends who have been level 30 for days and experience the endgame lol.

Just played through the last two missions of the game co-op with groups of strangers. This is really where the game shines. I can't wait to try challenge mode and the Incursion next month. I guess it's time to start grinding lol.

Challenging mode is a grind.  If your DPS isn't over 100k you are gonna feel like you are just bouncing bullets off the enemies.  If it is over 100k, you are gonna feel like you are just bouncing MOST bullets off the enemies.  I agree with you that the co-op is where the game shines.  I have a regular group that I run with and without that I don't think I would sink as much time into the game as I have been.  Incursion next month should be amazing.
