I rented it and much like Destiny, it kinda just feels like an excuse to play with friends online. Destiny is arguably a better game as well in spite of its many flaws.

I will likely buy this after price cuts, but not something I really want to play right now.

So top 3 new ips.
Division 81 (so far)
Watch Dogs 80
Destiny 76 (Taken king @ 86)

Pretty similar and decidedly average compared to new ips like Uncharted, Gears, Bioshock, Mass Effect.

Not sure what the top 3 selling ips were last gen 2.5 years in, but probably at least one of those.

Funny enough Ubisoft had Assassins Creed at 81 as well.

bought the game today,

Put about 4-5 hours in. Like it so far.

I was a hardcore Destiny player the 1st 4 months it was out, and to me this feels alot different. It shares the shared open world concept but otherwise a different game.

Like I said, I loved destiny, I doubt it will reach the same heights for me, but I am a sucker for loot based games. I am sure this will gave me many hours of enjoyment.

I'm not gonna say these new IPs are amazing, but I think it should always be taken into consideration critics are jaded now.

7-10 years ago we might have considered those new IPs amazing.

Holy shit Watch Dogs averaged a fucking 80? I would rate that turd a 6 tops.

Division I would give an 8.5 now that I have reached the endgame. That could go up or down depending on the endgame and what they add. A way better game than Destiny.

Are you defining top by Metascore or sales? If by Metascore you could probably toss Splatoon in there

Sales then Metascore. I didn't list them in order either. And Division isn't top 3 yet, but is trending that way.

For just Meta Bloodborne, Divinity Original Sin, and indies would take the top.

Gotcha

You make a good point in that last gen the new IPs got considerably better in their second iterations. I'm most interested in seeing what Bungie has in store for Destiny's sequel. I know that they are a much better developer than what that game made them out to be
