Not entirely sure how much it will help. If Zelda is going to make a person buy a console for it, odds are they are Nintendo fans who would have bought the console anyways. It will help software numbers, hardware wise though? If so not much.

those people most likely already own a wii u or would get a wii u to play zelda as well.

So it might cuts off some wii u sales for this holiday season and shift them over to the nx, thats it.

That's pretty much my point of saying it really isn't going to help hardware numbers. If they didn't buy NX for Zelda U port, they would with Zelda NX. Really, Nintendo is just cutting themselves off from selling more Wii Us, which being they are moving on this year or next isn't a big deal.

Yeah, of course. Knack helped the ps4. Ryse helped the Xbox One... And they're mediocre games.

Launch it with the port and a game like Wii Sports and you're golden, as long as the system is a reasonable price.

This sounds familiar...

Apparently launching with Zelda does more favors than launching with New Super Mario Bros...

And I can't imagine Nintendo Land 2 would do the trick...

Hopefully Nintendo has learned their lesson after two terrible launches...

What other besides the Wii U do you mean? GC?

And definitely not Nintendoland 2, as much as I do enjoy the first. They need something eyecatching like Wii Sports to get gamers and casuals alike intrigued, and something like Zelda will help push others over the edge.

Wishful thinking I know, but it would be nice :(

The 3DS of course...

Hopefully both the 3DS and Wii U taught Nintendo that it isn't enough to launch a new console with a huge seller from the previous generation...

Launching the 3DS with Nintendogs+Cats did them no favors and the same is very true for New Super Mario Bros. U...

Have a nice day...

Of course it would help

Of course. It won't guarantee long term success, but it will do greats things for the systems first few months on the market. Of NX can break any kind of record at launch or garner lots of positive press, that is worth more than any paid form of promotion.

More big games at launch will definitely help the NX

Lots of Nintendo fans do not own a Wii U (arguably most). Aside from myself I know lots of friends who decided to settle for 3DS and skip the Wii U due to its  poor software. If the NX serves a better first impression and a tangible promise of better software, then it'll reach beyond the Wii U's audience. A great looking Zelda on day one will really help serve that better impression.

Most fans of anything are fickle

I don't think all people who would buy a console just for Zelda has a Wii U.  There is still no original Zelda on Wii U, and the lineup for the system is relatively weak anyhow.

Even so, there are assuredly people for whom Zelda's presence on a system would be a big motivating factor to purchase it, even if Zelda on it's own wouldn't make it a must by.  Probably more of these people than folks who would buy a system just for Zelda.

Probably a little, but they need an exclusive to drive the sales.
