Forums - Gaming - So XBox Is Going To Have The Better Graphics/Best 3rd Party Ports Now?

Reality check.
1. When launching Xbox 360 Microsoft added additional 256 mb RAM on the suggestion of epic games. They originally planned to release Xbox 360 with 256 mb RAM. It cost them half billion USD. They just can't release a new hardware without any R & D. And it's costly.
2. While developing games developers have stated that porting isn't that cheap. Despite having one standard SKU for Xbox One / PS4 / Wii U developers have expressed how costly it is. How will Xbox One "premium " survive with multi SKU and with its smaller and fragmented user base?
3. Pay $70 for the Xbox One "premium " and $60 for standard version. Lol. Market isn't that easy.
On last thing. Traditional console market have survived this long with standard hardware. This will remain as it is unless users are willing to pay like smartphones. They actually pay. Where? In the PC market where GTX 660 sells 10 million units. But that market is different. Last time I checked Microsofts mission in not clear in this regard.

That's why I am telling people it won't be this gen. Odds are we will see this new console in the next gen and as for the GPU, odds are they will be like HDDs... you buy them from a MS branded package for $80 and then open a tray at the back, pop the GPU out and swap it for the one in your package. Think of a PC that you could upgrade by buying ready made parts and using slots created for upgrades...

Around the Network

Then you will buy PS5 2 years later? Seems like a waste.

2013: PS4 XB1
2017: XB1+
2019: PS5
2021:XB1++
2025: PS6 XB1+++

Nah I'd probably just upgrade to the inevitable XBox++ in 2020 in that case.

"Now"? Nothing has been officially announced so no.

Also both Sony and Nintendo have also eluded to upgradable hardware. Nintendo in their patent and SSE Vice President Masayasu Ito.

Arguably Sony and Nintendo are more likely to introduce it first. Nintendo in form of the NX releasing this year and Sony as a new PS4 SKU in 2017/18. I think its in Microsofts best interest to rebrand before they do so, so I think they will implement it with the Xbox One's success rather The Xbox One itself, whereas sony will happily drag the PS4's life into 2020s if they can. Instead MS will focus on establishing Windows Univeral Applications with the Xbox One and introduce a fully BC successor in 2018.

You do know they are the same console right? You just buy a $80 box with this little black box with an odd port at the back, pop the one in your console out of the slot it is sitting on, pop it in and then wait until your console updates...

Or alternatively, "if memory cards were GPUs"...
