Well it's more fun speculating on something than speculation on nothing.

There are legitimate and believable things to speculate on. It isn't speculating on something vs. speculating on nothing. It's speculating on obvious falacies vs. speculating on believable leaks and quotes from official sources.

My question is if Sony will invest in another handheld. Or if they are going to wait and see what Nintendo does, and then decide if it is worth competing with, or remain focused on the PS4. They see to see far more success in the home console business. They are hardly supporting the Vita as of now and it almost feels as if their portable business has become redundant.

Not that one, this one 'power is a bit over the PS Vita'  http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=214174&page=1

Too many NX rumours to keep track of

You actually believe that? You actually believe that Nintendo would launch a handheld that's only on par the Vita, but has to work with two 720p screens instead of a single 544p screen? Come on, dude. I didn't even take that one seriously. Whoever made that rumor up knows less than nothing about hardware. You need way more than "power a bit over the vita" to make graphics on two 720p screens look presentable.

They put out something similar in power to the PSP that had to power stereoscopic 3D :p

It sounds exactly like something Nintendo would do.

Stereoscopic 3D a 244p isn't even remotely comparable to two 720p screens.

You say that but Vita is already capable of a 720p output. So seems pretty similar to me.

Sometime next year I wanna say.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Upressing sub-544p games to 720p on the Vita TV isn't being "capable of 720p." It's not similar in the slightest.

I don't see a successor to the Vita on the horizon, so I guess Sony will support the Vita as long as they possibly can. They might even try to hold on to their tradition of supporting platforms for at least 10 years - which would mean support until 2022. Seems crazy right now, but I can actually see that happening. Minecraft alone will keep the system afloat somewhat. It's still the number one choice for Minecraft on the go, because the versions for smartphones suck ass. =D

Anyway, definitely not before 2018, not even in the US.
