Forums - Nintendo - The Legend of Zelda: TP HD Review Thread (MC: 85)

I actually agree more with Pavo here.

The original Wind Waker is worse than the original Twilight Princess. What was wrong in the original Wind Waker was ABYSMAL. The sailing itself lasted the whole game, unlike TPs tears of light, and the triforce quest made a bad problem with the original EVEN WORSE. It was terrible, it was a complete and total disgraceful problem with the game that kept me from replaying it ever again after the first time.

The reason WWHD is scored higher is because...well, despite how bad WW's problems were, it was an easily fixable problem that could be corrected simply by adding the swift sail and cutting down on the triforce quest. TP's issues as a whole were not nearly as bad as WW's, but were more cemented into its design and not easily fixable without an actual remake of the game, rather than a remaster.

WWHD is far superior to the original WW, it's not even close. The original WW would've died and scored in the low 80's to high 70's at best, IMO. But WWHD solved the core issue with the original, whereas TPHD needed a bit more love and care in order to fix its problems. The lower score isn't surprising to me at all, but the original TP is still way better than the original WW. WWHD just got exactly the fix that WW needed, while TP didn't with TPHD on near the same level.

Wind Waker was not always better than Twilight Princess, and it still isn't. Wind Waker is amazing highs and awful lows, resulting in an average game. Twilight Princess is a good game all throughout with some flaws. It just so happens that WWHD is better than TPHD because WWHD got what it needed more than TPHD.

TP>>WW

WWHD>TPHD

The main reason Im not interested in this game is that (a) The soundtrack wasn't orchestrated and (b) the remaster simply doesn't look as good as Windwaker HD. I cant tell if this is due to the artsytle of if Tantalus just got lazy and did the bare minimum. At the very least the fields of Hyrule shouldn't have been a flat texture. I don't know, the game just doesn't seem as appealing as WindWaker.

Edit: And the price. I don't think its justified.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

I still have the first-print Wii version...so I´ll pass this one.
Still.... an excellent opportunity for anyone who has not played the original. TP is a masterpiece.

It depends on the fan. Personally I like Skyward Sword more than Twilight Princes.

Totally agree, so even TP got HD treatment still doesn't look impressive, while WW HD looks very impressive even for modern standards.

TP HD is solid remaster, but I really don't think they could do much better with that art style that aged terribly.

They could do better in some areas, I think, but in general I think it's a competent remaster, and it's obviously harder to make TPHD looks great than WW. It's a matter of time, resources and how much money Nintendo was willing to pay. But I think, even when it could be better, it's still a worthy adittion. I'm keeping my higher standards for Zelda U. No mercy with it xDDDDDD.

Offcourse, Zelda U is totally different beast. :)

It depends on the fan :P. There's not exactly a general consensus in Zelda fandom, I truly think Skyward Sword is one of the best Zelda games. Some people didn't like it because of motion controls and the abscence of an "open world", but I think that motion controls gave something different to the combat, more engagint, and the division of the world in different areas made the world feel less empty. Now, with the WiiU I think they could manage to make a big and dense open world. But I was thinking on Wii limitations, obviously.

Yeah I'm a Zelda fan and it's one of my favorites.

I really don't get Zelda fans

some say Twilight Princess is weakest game of the franchise, but I've read countless times about how Skyward Sword is garbage or even Wind Waker

lol

So, you don´t get... opinions?

And in this thread, you can see Zelda fans in their natural habitat: pointlessly arguing over the "best" Zelda.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Point me in the direction of any single fanbase that doesn't do the exact same thing, and then maybe I'll accept this post as more than worthless.

The keyword is pointlessly. Zelda fans can't make up their mind; like and dislike games in the franchise for their convenience at some points.

The Uncharted fanbase doesn't seem to have many fights. Same with Crash, Animal Crossing, Mario RPGs, 2D Metroids.

But yeah, you can consider my post worthless; I dont mind.
