Forums - Nintendo - Potential Zelda Wii U Buyers - what lack of features would make you skip the game?

Facing it, this game is probably going to take a great hit in terms of graphics. I remember how in the E3 2014 trailer for Xenoblade X there was a scene where your character was walking down a hangar to get into his skell, but in the final game, that little cut scene looks absolutely nowhere near as good. Won't stop me from buying, at this point nothing will, but the graphical downgrade can be expected.

Xenoblade X is just one example, but there more examples where Nintendo games actually look much better late than at initial revile.

Also we saw Zelda U few months ago and still looks great.

Wont stop me buying it, since I have faith in Nintendo that it will make a great Zelda game for Wii U, even if the NX version has better graphics or performance.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

If it's released on the NX, I guess I'll buy the NX with Zelda NX, so that's the only reason I won't buy the game on my WiiU. I'm pretty confident on Nintendo making an astonishing game.

No graphics.

(So, realistically, nothing would stop me from buying it)

I strongly suspect, depending on what they reveal, that I'll be an early adopter of the Nx, so if the game's on both ill get it there.

If not...I'm struggling to think of something that would prevent me from getting it for the wii u.

Maybe if in the first 30 seconds zelda and link are captured, so you take on the role of Tingle, accompanied by the always chatty Navi and Kaepora Gaebora (the Owl), to go rescue them. The entire world is flooded, though, meaning that the whole game takes place in a series of water temples, and while swimming around in that 3d environment the camera is linked to the gamepad's motion controls, forcing you to spend the game twisting around in your chair. Finally, while everyone else matches the art style they showed, Tingle stands out like a sore, disgusting thumb as a photo-realistic, squat, creepy old man in a green leotard.

...who am I kidding, I'd still check it out.

2. Appropriate HD resolution and frame rates

If they find a way to make the grass look as good as the gif above then I can accept 720p and the standard 30 fps for 3D Zelda games.

I wouldn't worry about resolution; Nintendo have never released a Wii U title that runs in sub-HD. Worst case scenario we are looking at 720p with no AA, a la Mario Kart 8 or Splatoon. 720p with post-process AA, a la 3D World/Captain Toad/Xenoblade X, is a strong possibility.

I do confess though, now that it's likely going to be a cross-gen title, I am concerned about how well the Wii U version will look and run. Some games that were cross-gen between PS4/X1 and PS3/360 looked and ran quite badly on the latter.

I wouldn't worry at all. Nintendo have 2 platforms, not 5 like most third party devs. Its 1st party so of course quality on the Wii U version matters more to them then 360/PS3 version of games third parties are working on. The WIi U version has likely been the primary platform for 3 years and will still offer them  a fair portion of the games sales. This isn't a  scenario where the NX version will sell 10x more then the Wii U one like we've seen with some cross gen games. Lastly this is Nintendo we're talking about and this is their flagship title; they won't take shortcuts on any platform. There is no precedent of them being lazy when it comes to Zelda.

I Imagine that just like Tomb Raider, people will be surprised by just how good the "last gen" version looks.

lack of NPCs, town/villages. If the game feels empty.
Like Skyward Sword, this game was a shell of a Zelda game

Ditto for me.

I wouldn't buy this if the NX version was vastly superior while the Wii U was horribly done. (ie. Black ops 3 for PS4 vs PS3)

If they change too much.. pretty vague, but if they change the core gameplay to I dunno, first person, then I wouldn't get it :p
