Ha, good one! It's Nintendo that's dead set on becoming irrelevant to anyone outside of its dwindling fanbase.

We all know if you had the chance to win a years salary betting if the NX (assuming it's two device) will outsell the Wii U and 3DS combined, you'd bet against that happening.

You have literally brushed off any and all suggestions of ways Nintendo can potentially attract new consumers which means that you aren't worth debating with since you are dead set on a single view point.

Please then, go ahead and tell me what kind of customer Nintendo would attract that wasn't interested in the 3DS or the Wii U and would be interested in the NX, and then tell me how many of those customers there are that it'll actually make a noticable difference.

You think the fan base will increase? Tell me who you think is going to buy them.

You and I have had that exact conversation multiple times now, others on this site have had that same conversation with you as well, we have thrown out various strategies that can potentially increase Nintendo's appeal and each time you dismiss them and continue to label Nintendo as "doomed".

I'm done having that discussion with you because you have already decided what your answer will be regardless of what I or others say.

If i knew the answer then I would be a platform maker lol, no one saw Wii and Ds being wild successes and no one saw Splatoons success. So if I were you I would certainly atleast CONSIDER Ninty being more successful. We truly have no clue what NX is all about, if its a brand new concept like they have said multiple times now lol then it could be wildly successful or a complete failure. You realize this stragety has worked and failed once. There for you have no reason to believe it will fail instead of succeed besides sheer hate for Ninty.

No I'm not talking about strategies. I'm talking about the people that had no interest in buying a 3DS or a Wii U, but are now going to be interested in buying an NX (assuming its both a Wii U and 3DS successor). What is it about these consoles that will make people who didn't buy a 3DS or a Wii U?

I mean a lot of people here are assuming that the NX's critical feature is more games across both platforms. So I want to know who looks at a 3DS a few years ago, thinks " $200 3DS, $40 games, but there's only 5-10 games on the platform I'd be interested in, so I'll pass. " and now think's "$200 NX portable. $40 games, and there's 10-20 games I'd be interested in, and I went to the Nintendo theme park last week, so I'm buying it."

Who is that person and how many of those people are out there?

1985-consoles were a fad, who would buy a console when they can play games for a fraction of the cost at arcades or on a home computer with superior hardware? Next thing you know NES is a massive success that brought back console gaming from the dead and Nintendo is a household name.

1995-Gameboy was a fad, it sold to casuals who wanted to play Tetris on the go and to diehard Nintendo fans who wanted to play handheld versions of their favorite Nintendo franchises. A few years later Gameboy is selling 20+ million per year and Pokemon is a global phenomenon.

2005-Nintendo is becoming irrelevant in the console space and PSP is going to destroy Nintendo's handheld dominance like PS1/PS2 did to their consoles. Next thing you know, DS & Wii are Nintendo's best selling handheld and home console ever and Nintendo is having their most profitable period ever.

2015-Wii was a casual fad and the handheld market is dying to smartphones, there is nothing Nintendo can do to stop this decline and they will soon be completely irrelevant.

Ohh I haven't said there's nothing Nintendo can do. I just haven't heard anything from Nintendo or its fans that suggests to me that any of their efforts will actually work. Everything seems to be a) doubling down on its existing fans that will support them anyways, or b) trying to become more of a pop culture icon. I simply don't think that's the right direction.

Like I said, we have had this exact conversation in the past, if you don't think the combination of increased software output, more system features, better marketing, a membership program that rewards you for purchases, increased brand recognition through mobile apps/theme park attractions/movies & series can potentially make Nintendo hardware a more attractive purchase them you truly believe their is nothing they can do to improve their situation.

nope

anything where home console doesn't launch in 2016 is fake

all of the "rumors" are BS - And Super Metal Daves info was never classified by him as a rumor because he stood behind his info unequivocally- VERY MUCH UNLIKE every other rumor article, post etc that is put out there.

A rumor article is a simple as writing ANYTHING one wants to write, then attaching "rumor" to it- then..."BAM" you have an article that will get hits and many gullible people will react to

I may try a "rumor" article/post on these very message boards someday soon just for fun

Dwindling fanbase? The Wii U may not be their brightest spot, but to say that means that you've already determined that the NX is a waste of time. Surely, you can't be serious?

No, what I'm saying is that the constant fan service - making a device that Nintendo knows has very limited appeal outside of its existing die-hard fanbase is not a good way to attract new fans. It doesn't matter if Nintendo characters starts appearing in movies, tv shows, theme parks etc. - all of these things that I've heard from fans on this site that are supposedly great efforts by Nintendo to sell more consoles are absolutely worthless If the game console to play Nintendo games with those characters in them doesn't make sense to the prospective buyers.

Prime example - Mario was probably at or near his peak in terms of being a pop culture icon at around the release of the Virtual Boy in 1995, but that alone wasn't going to sell terrible hardware that appealed to pretty much nobody.  Nintendo character's alone, no matter how popular they are, can't overcome unappealing hardware.

You have to make games people want to play on a console that people want to play those games on at a price that people are willing to pay. So far I do not think Nintendo has done that. Apparently that means I'm trolling though, so who knows.
