Their phones are the best. They're the only ones who put flagship quality in their smaller Z versions, unlike Samsung and the others who cheap out.

You're not a visionary bruh, get some vision, you fail to think 2 steps ahead. Nothing is everlasting, who knows what type of technology will come next and when but it sure as hell won't be smartphones forever.

SONY latest phones might be good, certainly not the best lol, but it was a very rough road until they got it right. Before that, their phones disappointed in everyway, hardware and software wise. Xperia Z, their first great phone that wasn't trashed by the critics,  and it was released in 2013. You can't expect people to come back when they disappointed them for years before that. Their image as a smartphone manufacturer was too damaged at that point.

Lol@SONY phones being the best, that's why you should stick to reviewing games on metacritics

In your first paragraph you start with "latest phones might be good" and make an attempt at human communication, then quickly add a short silly second paragraph starting with "LOL@Sony phones being best". I can almost imagine the emotions and change of heart going through you. Their phones have been the best the last couple years, don't stay bitter because you had a bad experience with them 10 years ago. Lol at the metacritic mention, you weren't even around back then, are you a banned alt? Ahahaahahahahh

Smartphones may be rendered obsolete one day. But just making the statement, without merely hinting at what may replace them, is like stating nothing at all.

Also, consider this an unofficial warning people. If you want to continue this discussion please do so in a constructive manner without getting personal.

I kind off agree with him in the sense that when mobile phones evolved, they didn't stop being mobile phones, they became smart mobile phones. So all he is saying is there will be another evolution like this taking place, we just don't who will do it and when.

This might come with projection technology, gesture recognition and or things we haven't thought it yet. This Ted talk is a good example and think about how old this video is.

Eh, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

What a stupid comment from Kaz. If anything, smartphones are gonna replace more and more devices. Wallets are on their way out, point and shoot cameras are dead, camcorders are dead etc

.... and smartphones are gonna play an important rule in powering your future VR experiences, controlling your smarthomes etc

Smartphones are evolving, just because the smartphones you make aren't pushing boundaries, it doesn't mean other manufactures are in the same boat.

I think he meant that the end of cell phones for Sony is coming. They are getting out of that business cuz their phones suck and don't sell.

You do realize that they are leading in Image sensors who are used in almost every other smartphone? They have more to lose than other Companys. It seems there is no confidence in the smartphone market for Sony.

Maybe it wont be replaced but i see people stop buying the latest phones every year or even 5 years because even the cheapest 100€ smartphone performs decentley to any 600€ Iphone as technology progressed forward. People are burned out spending money on devices they are just going to use for Facebook. The market will slowley decline

The premium smartphone bubble is bursting. But those will be replaced by cheaper smartphones. That's different.

wearables. but not in the next couple of years. it certainly will take a while.

Hunting Season is done...

We're a ways off from smartphones getting replaced, but it will happen eventually. Take all the conveniences that current smartphones have, throw in some new ones, and put it in a more durable package with better battery life and an even more convenient form factor. Could be something as outlandishly futuristic as a thin wristband with a holographic display and some advanced wireless connectivity for headphones & media devices.

Nah, they're just sour because their phones didn't sell. Smartphones are here to stay. The next logical progression is mind controlled phones but really...who'd want that? Humans are visual creatures, the Smartphone design is here to stay. It may be evolved upon but the touch interface and sleek design will stay probably until the end of time. Maybe they'll just be see-through pieces of glass that can be easily distorted or something.
