Does anyone know if buying more than one version on a 3DS will allow for self trading? My daughter is getting Yellow and I was going to get Red and play it on her 3DS so she could trade with someone but I was unsure if that's possible.

You can't trade with two games on the same console, you need 2 3DS's to trade.
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
If you are buying the games for 2 different 3DS, then you can..
but if both games are on the same 3DS, then you will be unable to trade Pokemon (not sure if Pokemon Bank works both ways)

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]
Damn, well thanks anyway guys. I was hoping that maybe the bank would allow one player to buy more than one game on their 3DS and trade that way as an incentive to purchase multiple versions but I guess not.
Really don't want to buy a whole new 3DS for a 10 dollar digital title lol

Oh - you mean transfer from Pokemon bank.
Like Red ver Pokemon to Pokemon bank and then from Pokemon bank to Blue version?
You should be able to do that. (Unless anyone can confirm this or not).
Edit:
In the past, if you wanted to transfer Pokémon that you caught in other Pokémon games, you sometimes needed two game systems, and you had to move Pokémon one at a time. Now, with Pokémon Bank, you can conveniently transfer many Pokémon at once without needing two game systems. |
Hells to the yes! Thanks! Running off to snag Red right now.
Oh right they finally answered this crucial question, whether or not you could even transfer VC Pokemon to the new games. Thank goodness for Pokemon Bank!
