Forums - Nintendo - Your Fondest Pokemon Memories

Well, it's midnight where I am, which means it's officially February 27, 2016 and the 20th Anniversary of when Pokemon Red/Green/Blue came out in Japan. It instantly became a worldwide phenomenon that kids and adults alike could enjoy. I've been a fan for the majority of my life and it has become my favorite videogame series of all time(and that of many people I'm sure xD). Heck, I still have my Pikachu doll from 15 years ago and it's still like new. Happy Birthday Pokemon :D

So my question is what are your fondest memories with Pokemon? I could probably write a 10 page essay if I mentioned all my fondest memories xD. So I'll keep it at three...for now :p

1. When I played my first Pokemon game 15 years ago it became something I loved instantly and never stopped loving :D It was Pokemon Crystal for Gameboy Color(2nd Gen) and for a 4 year old at the time it was just something I couldn't put down even if I tried(15 years later and I still can't put it down xD).

2. The endings to the Mystery Dungeon series. I've always thought these games were criminally underrated for their story and music especially. I never fail to cry in the end of each game in the series :'(

3. Beating Cynthia(4thGen) was probably one of the most satisfying things I've done in the series. Although I never lost to her, she was definetly the one that made me work for it the hardest in terms of Champions.

I tried to keep it to videogames only, but if you want to talk about the show, trading cards or something else, you are free to do so. Enjoy :)

Mystery Dungeon is so wonderful, I really need to get Super once I get the time. RRT hit me so hard, goddamn wonderful game.

Running the LG E4 and critting Blue's Charizard on my last Pokemon after he crit ALL of mine. My last Pokemon? Venusaur. Guy tanked a Fire Blast to take him down.

Probably my favorite Pokemon I ever caught, my Growlithe in HG. Caught him with a Quick Ball while doing postgame stuff, wondered if I should keep looking because that means he's "weak." That level 19 Growlithe then beat a level 60 or so Onix in one or two hits. I immediately evolved him and he never left my team from that point. I believe he beat my friend's Lugia shortly thereafter in a friendly, because he was a damn tank.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

My fondest memory was probably when I was 1st introduced to it. I went to my friend's house, who was playing blue. He had a pikachu and was training in the Viridian Forest. I saw some gameplay and was somewhat interested. I was flipping through his instruction manual, where I saw my fated favorite pokemon, diglett. I decided to buy the game and find him. He looked so cute xD

Playing it for the 1st time was a real joy as well. I got charmander, nidoran, rattata, spearow, diglett and... I can't remember the other one, but I played that nonstop until the battery died. I was absolutely hooked xD

And then there was also learning about Silver/Gold, seeing the new pokemon, and seeing the new features. And then there was revisiting Kanto again. Silver/Gold overall was a mindblowing sequel for me. xD

Day one getting Blue version. I couldn't wait for it to come out. And my first Togepi...

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

I'm a PokeScrub. I first played a main series release back when Y released in 2013. That adventure wasn't exactly the most memorable for me, but I'll never forget my first online battle against my friend.

Even though he was a huge Pokemon fan, I managed to beat him out mostly through having a more desirable starting order for my party, with an equally powerful team. Of course, he beat me the 2 times after that, but I won't forget that one battle.

bet: lost

-Squirtle fully evolving into Blastoise

-Throwing a Master Ball at Latios as a kid when I had no idea that Latios was a legendary

-Having some of my fav Pokemon of all time in Gen 4, including Gallade, Lucario, and Garchomp

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

My fondest memories come from pokemon XD, in that game I met for the first time my favorite pokemon (Aggron) as well as so many other pokemon I love (vaporeon, metagross, espeon, cloyster, ampharos) I also met Ludicolo for the first time, the pokemon that gave me the most trouble in my pokemon history because I couldn't figure it's typing and nothing was super effective against it.

I remember my first playthrough of Gold and while I was in the middle of taking on the Rocket in their Underground Base, I saved my game. However, once I tried to get back on, all of a sudden, it had an error and I could not get back into my game. I was panicking and getting frustrated because I worked so hard to get where I wanted to be and then all of a sudden, this happened.

Another great memory was battling Red for the first time in Gold. I was awestruck because it was almost like battling myself since I played the Gen I games first. The music for this battle was all-time great.

I also had good memories of Pokemon Trading Card Game. I collected Trading Cards back in the day (even getting that holographic Venasaur) and the game was a gateway for me to sorta get invested in competing in the Trading Card scene...which did not go anywhere :P.

Hey You Pikachu! was another great memory, I guess (I was a kid back then :P). I remember repeating so many commands to Pikachu that it kinda got annoying because the reception is not that great.

I have many more great memories, but these stood out more to me.

cliche, but trekking through Cerulean Cave and encountering Mewtwo. It freaked me out. I think I was in 4th or 5th grade at the time. good times.

Hi

There are so many. Playing Yellow and Silver on my green Gameboy Color, those were the times.
