Forums - Gaming - What's your beef with indie games?

You know it's hilarious!

OT: There are great indie games, bad indie games, great AAA games, bad AAA games. I think people that take fault with smaller-budget games are under the assumption that companies are using them in lieu of AAA releases...which is a seperate issue, if valid.

My beef with them is that they are basically stripped down version of what could be great games.

That said, there are some that are absolute gems Guacamelee, Kick and Fennick, SteamWorld Dig but for the most part they're rubbish. HOWEVER, what's garbage on a big screen is not too bad on the go like Broken Age or Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken.

Most of the very highly rated ones like Binding of Isaac, Fez, Lone Survivor or Hotline Miami are not worth your while.

I have no real beef.

I guess if I had to complain, indie can either scare people away from an amazing game just because it has the word "indie" or it can be an excuse for devs to try and make a game with no substantial content, I guess.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I love indie game , many of them are true masterpiece, that worth my time and money.

I enjoy them. I don't think there has been a bad indie game offered on PS+ yet.

I don't exactly hate any Indies besides the obvious cash-ins like the Minecraft clones and stuff. I do wish that there were more fun and unique ones though.

My only beef is that they are reviewed on merits that are not relative to non indie games and as such are believed to be superior which is simply not the case.

My beef with them is metacritic why do these games constantley get good reviews, while Japanese games with lower bugdets like Decpetion 4 get shitted on? And the price isnt a reason The Witness has proven it.

Only thing I hate is the term "indie". People act like a game is either "AAA" or made by two guys in a basement.

100% THIS. Thumbs up, mate.

shit games are shit games regardless of the budget
