Forums - Gaming - What's your beef with indie games?

Do you feel that their "non-games" because that plenty of don't have a big buget?

Or

Ever since Sony started offering them as part of the IGC, gamers feel like their "shoving them down their thoats" even though, they don't have to download them. Ever time Sony uploads an indie title, the dislike is a bit larger than usual. Read the comments and you get the usual, "IndieStation 4" , My cell phone can run these games,  "This looks like shit."

I gotta admit, I haven't really liked all of the  indie games Sony gives us for free, but I do go and buy the indies that I do like, (Galak-Z, Astrobreed, Jamestown+ etc)

at least indie games do try something different.

So what's wrong with them exactly?

Not enough of them are on consoles where I can support them better. Fucking indie scum.

Only thing I hate is the term "indie". People act like a game is either "AAA" or made by two guys in a basement.

I honestly do not care about games having a big budget or not, if it's good it doesn't matter how much it cost to make =P
There are great indie games out there, like Bit.Trip Runner, To the Moon, Ittle Dew, Disco Dodgeball, Stanley Parable, etc.. you just have to look at the right places imo.

The only Indie game that Im currently playing and realllllllyyyyyy liked it is KAG on PC!

I can't really make a judgement since I don't think I have bought many indie games. And I think the reason for that is most of them doesn't interest me.

Pocky Lover Boy!

I honestly don't understand what some people's problem with them are. Budget doesn't determine a game's quality so it can't be that. No one is forcing you to buy them and if you are so against them, you can easily just ignore them.

I don't have a problem with them. One of my fave game series is Umihara Kawase -a Japanese indie series

Funny story, when I first heard the term "indie game" I thought it was a term to refer to games made from India XD

My beef with them is that they make mah $60 dollar season pass shiny graphics cinematic extravaganzas look crappy in comparison. Kidding. I think. Maybe not.

I'm now filled with determination.

I like many indies. That said, I dislike indies that...

- try for 3D graphics when it's obviously out of the devs' league.
- use cheap Flash game-looking visuals. (Like moving pictures on pictures.)
- that have a lame shtick and goes on too long.
- that has an awesome shtick, but ends way too early to explore it.
- that had no time spent on visuals. (No reason for Atari graphics.)
- that rely on a stupid joke / jokey title to carry it.
- that very blatantly rip off other indies.
- that rely on being "important" to generate favorable coverage.
- that are walking sims or puzzle games.

My problem is that, most of them are boring, clones of past gens and most of their appeal is centered on nostalgia.
And they spawn like cars in GTA once one of them achieve success.
