Did it ever occur to you that, if there was more gaming news worth posting about, there would be proportionately less off topic? Or, by the same logic, any gaming news that doesn't make it on to the front page past off topic threads clearly isn't that interesting anyways.

This is the internet, let us have fun; why have to put up ''respectable'' front just to please some imaginary population of visitors who will be permantently frightened away from VGchartz by our ''horrible off topic threads''.

I wish it were that nice long ago. But the boards were flush with people a lot worse than we have now. Trust me, I had to deal with a lot of them. The forum is so much more civilized, friendly and intelligent than it used to be.

As for the current state of things. Yes. It is our playground, in the sense that it's where a bunch of people meet, share, discuss and play. And that's a good thing. We don't come here to talk about game sales because we're paid analysts doing our job. We do it because it's fun for us. So once we're here and having fun, why can't we share other kinds of fun with our fellow users?

I really don't want off topic taken off the front page. I want to see what's new when I come on the site, everything that's new. And if a topic is so unseemly or immature that it detracts from the site or creates problems for users, alright. that's what we're here for.

 


I love it so much when Stof is on the same side of an argument as me; there's really no way you can argue with his logic without seeming like a callous asshole

I really believe it belittles the site as well.  VGC has come a long way in becoming a more respected site and having this garbage on the front page cheapens the site by making it seem, well, off-topic and immature.

My .02.  Keep the change.

Grow up, if you don't learn to tolerate things which can easily be ignored, then you are going to grow up in life over stressed and hard to please. Take life a little less seriously. Besides off-topic does not effect the sites reputation more than asses.

no. A lot of times the off topics have generated new users due to the interest. Maybe more moderation in off topic titles and what's allowed would be better.
