No, I like Okey's idea. Keep it the way it is, but have a limit on how many show on the front page.

Well what would be extremely useful would be an option in peoples profiles that allows them to choose which forums do turn up on the hot topic sections, I imagine it would be a nightmare to program though.

If off topic threads are taking over hot topics then they are the only threads that are remotely active to begin with. Besides, I'm too lazy to go into off topic to see what people are saying, it's just a subtle way of trying to kill that section off and it wouldn't be the first time someone tried.

If you want "Off Topic" threads off of the main page, post comments in a bunch of "On Topic" threads that have died to bump them to the front page.

Be a little proactive.

I agree. We wish have more game and sales talk on gaming sales forum.

The off topic stuff can kinda clog the hot topics.

Also, to respond to the "post in the gaming threads more often and they'll stay on top"... The problem is that they don't often stay on the hot topics page because someone is taking a poll about pubic hair, toe cheese or something and legit gaming-related threads get pushed off the page before they are even seen...  40% of threads being off-topic means that users have to go hunt for ON TOPIC discussions as they have been pushed off the hot topics list...  

Get rid of off-topic on the front page or give me an option to turn off viewing off-topic in hot-topics.  A true filter would be cool but overkill.
