Who doubted what exactly? The trailer revealed rough edges in technical ways but the game still looks absolutely amazing and ND always delivered rich, wide, colorful environments.

There were doubters (as there always iare - this isn't news). And every game has "rough edges", so that's not saying anything.

Yeah, but this applies to everything out there so I don't know who you are addressing in this case because this is just a default message which doesn't exactly point to anyone specific. That's not saying anything but still trying to deliver the "I told you all"-message.

This is like "people were saying it looks like CGI!" when it doesn't. So my post refers to people who said it would like CGI when it of course doesn't.

Still looking very good for a game, though.

Well, for starters, it is CGI (a wonderful thread exists on this topic, so it doesn't need to be brought up again). Point - there were people who had specific doubts about Naughty Dog's output on this game. From the impressions, it sounds like those doubts were unfounded.

For me, the message was supposed to be light hearted. You missed it. No issue, but it needs to be let go.

Well, for the pedantic, people usually know what CGI actually means because it is made in a context but that is really no issue, of course.

I think people were only doubting the output because of the 60fps reveal trailer but if you forget that, it's really nothing to worry about.

Nobody's worried about anything, which is why (last time I say this), we're dropping this discussion.

But I am worried!!!

I think it does look like CGI. Just like The Order 1886 does, and Quantum Break!

I am not kidding! Those games all have FF VIII's CGI cut-scenes beat!

Am I wrong to think this way? =(

Seriously, why am I not surprised by walsulfur's comments on this... -__-

People are free to think whatever they want and to some it does look like CGI, of course, especially in motion. RotTR beats the FMV's from Tomb Raider 1 easily in many things.

But picture quality alone is still not even close to what, let's say Toy Story, does. We still live in an age where you can spot single polygons which is ok when it comes to games. You can't expect a higher level when you only have 33 ms to render a frame.

Oh, that stealth edit took me by surprise, Hynad ;)

From this trailer, and taking into account games like The Order 1886, Quantum Break and Horizon...

This game has them all beat when it comes to visuals.

I thought, like CGI-Quality, that the competition would put a close fight, but nope. Naughty Dog is doing its magic. Again.

What makes it look better is the scope really.  Like the part with the boat moving towards the mountains.  My goodness.  Its like the tech was full realized but also the vision.

My comment wasn't really me wondering anything about the subject. I know what CGI is. I was being a tad sarcastic.

But I still think many games achieve CGI quality (or close-enough CGI quality, to suit your narrative). But there will always be a gap between the most cutting-edge pre-rendered CGI, and real-time graphics. That doesn't mean the latter can't look like CGI at all.
