The Legend of Legacy makers FuRyu recently teased a new title, and this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine reveals it as Caligula for PlayStation Vita.

While not much is known about Caligula for the time being, it is an RPG set in a school setting, and the name “Caligula” comes from the “Caligula Effect,” a term that can be used to describe when one has a higher desire for something they’re not allowed to have. For example, wanting to see something more because they’re not allowed to watch, wanting to do something more because they’re not allowed to do it.

Key developers behind the game include FuRyu director Takuya Yamanaka, Tadashi Satomi known for writing the scenario for the first Persona game, Persona 2: Innocent SinPersona 2: Eternal PunishmentDigital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner 1 and 2 (developing off the original scenario writer by Yu Godai,) and Oguchi as the illustrator.

The above mini-scan has a text that reads  “can you kill an idol?” so it sounds like it might have a pretty dark setting, which wouldn’t be too unusual from a work by Tadashi Satomi.

We’ll have more detail as it becomes available.

Sometimes it's weird to think the vita keeps getting such great support.

Do you reckon?  I think it's shown itself as a very suitable platform for smaller games with Japanese-only aspirations, such as the kind of stuff FuRyu makes.

Saying that, Lost Dimension did do poorly (although better on Vita then PS3) so idk really.

Famitsu has gone up with its online preview for FuRyu’s newly announced PS Vita RPG Caligula, including the first teaser trailer.

Caligula is set in the virtual reality world of “Mobius,” where nine men and women aim to return to the real world. It features director Takuya Yamanaka, writer Tadashi Satomi (Persona and Persona 2), character design Oguchi, and composer Tsukasa Mako.

The protagonists are locked up in Mobius, a virtual reality world created by the vocal software “μ” in which all human beings become an ideal high school student and spend their days repeating high school life. Everyone within Mobius has forgotten the real world. For different reasons, each of the protagonists realize that Mobius is not the real world and form a “Going Home Club” with the desire to return home, and start looking for a way back. However, there are some members who suffered in reality and sought salvation in Mobius, and carry a darkness that can not be shared with the others.
