Pokken has quite a lot of content too, all things considered..

Adding just one character in requires a lot of balancing to make each character fair and relatively equal so I don't really see free content happening unless it's more for asthetic things or balancing.

Whether this game is actually balanced and fair though, only time will tell :p

I think it lacks maybe, 2-4 characters, and then I'll be entirely happy :P. I'll be happy anyway, but that way it feels like I spend my money fairly. It seems balanced, at least for what I've seen on YT, but it's not enough to know about it. If it's not balanced, I hope they support the game releasing patches to nerf my new favourite character, as always happens to me xDDDDDD.

Please note that amiibo actually don't unlock anything you can't unlock without them in this game. It works like Hyrule Warriors.

Oh right! Forgot you can normally unlock Shadow Mewtwo..

But the spinner is exclusive for Amiibos in Hyrule Warriors though ;)

True.. and with the character select layout, we could indeed see 2-4 more characters.. who knows? ;)

Perfect fit for the game. We still need more gen 1 reps like Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee. I know the developers wanted to do other types of Pokemon but I feel these two could be the Ryu and Ken of Pokken.

I'll be surprised if there isn't some form of DLC post launch, even if the developers said that they have no plans.

But other amiibos unlocks money, items, materials, weapons with better buffs

 

I think the only free content we could get is more character customizations and maybe maps. 

Maybe More support pokemons since they could be easier to make than a new fighter.

The only actual weapon locked behind an amiibo in Hyrule Warriors is behind Link amiibo, and it's only one weapon.

I think they will bring stuff out for it, and if so, have it priced very well, along the lines of MK8's DLC.
