Forums - Nintendo - Rumor! NX is coming in 2016 with Zelda at Launch

Magnus said:
I'm going to be very pissed if true. The Wii U should have its exclusive Zelda. Nintendo can recoup the investment on a remake for the NX sucessor.

NX needs better launch titles than the Wii U had.

Nintendo basically need a new Zelda game & mario game, for every launch they do.

NX going forever without a new zelda game, just because you want the Wii U to have the only version of that game, is a bad idea.

You want the NX to fail?

Not to mention much better sales on two platforms on which on one will be launch title, than releasing just on basically dead platform.

Throwing all that just to say that Wii U has exclusive Zelda!? That would be very stupid, but of course Nintendo will probably make Zelda U port launch title for NX.

If true.. it does kind of suck in a way that Wiiu didn't get it's own solely exclusive Zelda game. But personally I would rather play it on the more powerful system and I didn't just buy a wiiu for one game.

on the other hand porting costs time and development ressources.

The last of us from ps3 to ps4 took naughty dog one year (almost the full team).

If they really ported it, they could already be 1 year in the next zelda game if zelda wii u skipped NX. Meaning Zelda Wii u und NX will at least delay zelda nx one year.

Without The last of us Remastered we would already had Uncharted 4 in the ps4. And Naughty Dog would already work on Uncharted 5 / The last of us 2 or any other title.

Only 1 new unannounced game in 2h half of 2016.
No more Wii U games from nintendo...

Wii U dies in 2016 (support wise).

Like everyone has been saying:

Everyone has speculated this would happend.

NX launching 2016, barron game year for wii u, because theyre working on NX titles, Zelda U comeing also as a NX title.

Its not really a crazy rumor or something, its what most think will happend.

It will get indie support, and just dance.

Sry, but you dont know what you talking about. Porting one game from one system to another is very fast and cheap, basically cost few millions and can be done in 6 monts (I talking about port of a game not remaster). Saying that Nintendo will earn money with Zelda U port for NX only if they sell around 100-200k copies of NX version, but here we talking about several milions copies on NX alone, thats in worst case $100m of pure profit just from NX version.

The Last Of Us for PS4 wasnt simple port, it was Remaster. The Last Of Us PS4 sold more than 4m till now, so you can easily see how many money Sony made on that port. Saying that I dont think that Zelda U for NX will be Remastered version of a Wii U game, it will be simple port with some unique things, similar like TP Wii was different in comparison with GC version.

Maybe we could get new Zelda 6-12 months earlier if there is no Zelda U port for NX, but that doesn't change really anything, NX would be around 3 years without Zelda instead around 3-4 years. But with Zelda U port, NX will have new Zelda on launch and another one 3-4 years later, similar like Wii had. And after Wii U, NX really needs great launch titles, and new 3D Zelda game is very strong launch title, espacily beacuse Zelda U is first HD true open world Zelda that looks beatifule and looks like it will be one of best Zeldas ever. Not to mention sales of game itself that will be much higher than it would be on Wii U alone, especially because Zelda U launch on NX will be just beginning of NX life and game will sell whole life of NX while launch on Wii U will basically be end of Wii U life.

Also you can bet that Nintendo this delay will use to polish and include more content in that huge world, so at end we will get better game than we would if game was released in 2015.

Also from wikipedia regardless The Last Of Us PS4 development team: "The team that worked on Remastered was significantly smaller than the team for The Last of Us; in particular, the team did not include any designers, which led to various design issues remaining from the original game. Druckmann attributed this to the fact that Remastered was developed as a recreation of the original, altering only technical and graphical aspects."

So basicly one small part of team worked on The Last Of Us PS4 while reast of team worked on Uncharted 4.

At end, only argument you have is "Wii U will not have exlusive Zelda game", but if we include all facts that is very very weak argument why Nintendo dont need to port Zelda U on NX.

Porting is not very easy and fast.

Sure, you wont need map designers and co to port a game, buy engine developers to port the enginge and co.

And those people would be needed to make the new enginge for the new zelda game for nx so the designer could really start they work. It will definitly delay an NX launch. A Zelda on XN might make sense for nintendo, but for us custormers its nothing "good".

Also all your arguments could be said about MANY games.

Porting Mario kart 8 to NX? Will probl sell millions again (like GTA sold millions on ps3 and later ps4).

Porting Smash? Same

Porting Splatoon? Yeaaas

Porting Pokken? Do it.

Just go further:

Lets port Witcher 3, GTA V, Metal gear Solida and so on.

Do you want nx to be a remastered machine? it should get its own titles.

Also: If you check back the zelda footage from dec 2014 (game awards) the game looked nothing like a 2015 release. This was pre alpha.

This is, what Witcher (also an big open world game, also the first true open world game for the developer) looked 1 year pre release: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeGGZON5gjE

And they needed 1 full year to finish that (even got released a little bit broken).

Compare it do what Zelda should looked one year pre release: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HF9xDrQ9gKQ

There was not a single chance zelda wii u would be released 2015 at all. And i highly doubt Nintendo has the ressources to get zelda wii u finished till late 2016 + doing the port. Nintendos EADs teams are not really big.

btw: If Zelda Wii U is really on NX there will be high chances to zelda nx will be on the nx sucessor as well. Especially if it will work on the nx now, they will keep this tactics. Even if the NX is an success (wii was an succes as well, skyward sword sold bad anyway) Next zelda will probl take 5-6 years, thats the time the nx sucessor will be around.

So i really HOPE its not on nx, because if they port zelda wii u to nx I wont get this system.

Porting game is very fast and cheap in comparison with developing new game. Theatre intervju of 3rd party that said PS3/Xbox 360 ports for Wii U could be done in few millions. You realise that Nintendo done "HD Remaster" not port of GC HD for 6 months!?

Again, Zelda U port of NX could take 6-12 months for Zelda team, but you can bet we will get better game because in same time they will use that time to further improve game itself. New engine is not neessary, maybe they pull onother MM and use same enigne and assests from Zelda U and make completly new Zelda game for NX later.

No it cant be said for lotsa games because Zelda U is coming at end of life of one console and at beginning of life completely new console, we had very similar situation with TP. None of those games you mentioned is not in situation Zelda U is, also Zelda U is probably biggest and most expensive Nintendo project ever, so there is no sense to leave it only to dead platform at end of life when can be used to have successful launch of completely new platform and on which will have much better sales.

Nintendo in December 2014. certainly wouldn't said that game is coming in 2015. if they really didn't mean that, also delay of Zelda U isnt nothing strange, almost every 3D Zelda was delayed.

Yes, there is chance that Zelda NX be ported to succour of NX, but in modern age every second game is being ported or remastered, especially because successor of NX will have same architecture and probably also unified platform, but I dont see that like problem. I dont think we will wait another 5 years for new Zelda because unified platform, especially if Nintendo again pull MM we could have new Zelda game around 3-4 years after Zelda U.
