ps3 is not ps2 .... look at the data, which suggests a 3mil japanese ltd sales for ps4, not 10-15mil a) japanese aren't as into consoles as before b) ps3 is a hardcore, not a casual, console...so their pool of potential buyers has shrunk enormously u guys do realize that brand isn't everything? people do look at the actual product itself? big businesses that were on top for decades go down all the time in EVERY industry...u can't say "they were leaders last year so they will be this year" and be done with your analysis...yet time and time again the leaders of big companies make that mistake when their industry is changing and don't change with it and they lose huge market share or even have to get out of the industry altogether...sony isn't in that situation, but they also aren't gonna sell 432432423million ps3s because ps2 sold that many...just like nintendo didn't sell nearly as many n64 as snes or gc as n64...and they will sell many more wiis than any of their previous consoles |
NJ5 & Fastrabbit09 : What you guys don't realize is that wii has releases most of their proven franchise AAA while PS3 has not ONE! Tekken, MGS, FF, GT etc (not going to include God of War cause it flopped in Japan) and not bothering with Devil May Cry as it never was a system seller for the PS2. So again once these proven franchise games releases, it will be a diffenert story, more like a BIG story! So mark my word, It WILL EASILY sell over 10 millions in Japan. BTW : I could go into more details and point out other things, but I'm not enough to be an internet freak to type 10,000 words ;P (Not saying that you guys are, mind you) Just a quick primary point! Please read my post above to prove yourself wrong. PES, Dynasty Warriors and Minna no Golf are all better sellers than MGS on PS2. For Wii it are mostly the new franchises like WiiSports and WiiFit that sell like crazy.
Super Mario Galxy sold decent but not great, Brawl did very good. |
Only if you exclude MGS2: Substance and MGS3: Subsistence. If you include those, than both MGS2/3 sold over a million in Japan, putting them above DW and just below HSG. And then there will be the new guys jumping into the series with the upcoming Essentials Collection.
As for PES, why would it push ps3s when it came out for both the ps2 and Wii? MGS4 will not be coming to any other consoles, so in order to play it you HAVE to buy a ps3.
