"Then why is it that with every kickstarter it's ALWAYS the Wii U version that gets the axe despite the financial support? I think it is because devs put all of their resources on other platforms and neglect the system. They are okay taking money from Nintendo fans money but then when its time to release the game they release it on the other platforms and shrug their shoulders when it comes time for the Wii U version. Hyper light drifter isn't the first and probably won't be the last to pull this crap on the fanbase.

Part of the reason they got so much money for this kickstarter was that they put the Wii U version up on a pedestal and Nintendo fans backed it to death to reach that $550,000 goal before it ended. You have got to be fing kidding me."

100%

Happens plenty of times with Vita versions as well, luckily (for me) not in this case, but I've seen a number of times that's been promised as a platform only to say it's not possible.

Normally it's because the original plan goes haywire, normally because they assume Vita can run it but it actually can't without a lot of optimization, so they don't bother.

I honestly feel the reason given is a bit better here.  If the engine maker and Nintendo promised it would be supported, and that support never materialized, then it's really out of the dev's hands.  Cost of developing in another engine would be much more than they anticipated.

Is not justified in any case, Vita or WiiU, they promised something, they got the money of the people for that reason then they should do everything, and I mean, everything they can to deliver it, if not, shut up and dont overpromise, it may be a better reason than usual but it doesnt matter that much, it still gaves a feeling of being unprofesional and very hard to trust wich is how people is thinking about Kickstarter lately, they are hurting the platform with this kind of shit imo.

That's not how Kickstarter works though.  You're not pre-ordering a game; you're pledging funds for a game to hopefully get created.

I agree it's frustrating and it would be better if companies don't over-promise, but sometimes things are beyond your control (such as in this case).

Man, that sucks if it can't make the Wii U. My plan remains to buy it on the Wii U, but if it doesn't, I may have to pass.

I'm just glad I didn't pledge if that's the case.

That is why don't put money on kickstarters. These dev wannabes doesn't have any capital to begin with.
It also leads that Nintendo fans doesn't support 3rd party crap.

The system has limitation but I don't think it was like alien like technology compared to PS3 and XBOX 360.

Same. I was really excited about this, it seemed like a game that would be a perfect fit for the console's audience.

I agree with the guy commenting on it being a pattern for Wii U titles on Kickstarter, though. This isn't the first time I've heard of something like this happening and I'm usually under the impression that if they really wanted to make a Wii U version happen, they would.

That's the key. They just saw the console is not selling, NX is coming soon and the amount of work they need is too big compared to other consoles. At the end they did a promise but they dont want to take the risk now.

Sucks, but it was out of their hands. Let's not pretend the Wii U audience was a make it or break it situation in terms of this game getting coverage.

This is why NX needs to be able to run the same engines the PS4 & XB1 does.....
cant have your box be the only one, thats crazy hard to code for.

Won't matter... If there is one thing that never stop to amaze me is how developers always find a way not to put their games on a Nintendo platform.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

Oh great! Peopke kickstarted for WiiU but we are gonna give them a Ouya code, that should solve it. This devs give kickstarter a bad name, if you cannot have a compromise you dont promise anything. I find this really disgusting.

Hey for once this sounds like a legitimate unforseen circumstance. I don't know all the details about the engine and such but I don't doubt at all that the engine team claimed Wii U support would he easy sine it's happened before with CryEngine "working" on Wii U. Let's not put the blame on the wrong folks here, especially when they seem to be doing everything in their power to resolve it openly and honestly. This is a much different situation than Project Cars where the team lied consistently over the course of several months and said a Wii U port would still happen without any significant cuts.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!
