Forums - Nintendo - Best 2D Mario game

The best one is...

Super Marios Bros 11 4.37%

Super Mario Bros 2 (US) 5 1.98%

The Lost Levels (SMB2 JP) 1 0.40%

Super Mario Bros 3 62 24.60%

Super Mario World 106 42.06%

New Super Mario Bros 1 0.40%

New Super Mario Bros Wii 10 3.97%

New Super Mario Bros U 23 9.13%

Super Mario Maker 25 9.92%

Other 8 3.17%

Total:252

I mean, by favorite is SMB3. Best is a tough question when it comes to these games. NSMBU would probably be the best if it had even an ounce of conceptual creativity in it.

Also, I've read Tamaki's Patreon article on the Retro Studios rumors if anyone want's to know what's it says and discuss it on my wall. I know it's off topic (so don't ask me about it on this thread), but no one's talking about it and it really is juicy info. Like it's good enough to have been an Unseen64 video. Also, the language of the article made it sound like he WANTS more people to be able to talk about it, so I don't really feel bad about sharing the info with other people as long as I paraphrase.

Super Mario World

Great colors and visuals, fluid controls, and awesome music.

Pretty much this. Would also add that this game probably features the best interaction between Mario-Yoshi ever. Also... it was so fun trying to get all types of Yoshi.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

The feels. :c

I rarely did this tho (probably just 2 or 3 times) cause I really liked to keep my Yoshi with me. <3

Mario 3 by far. So simple yet so rich. I don't think any game Ninty makes can surpass what they accomplished there, when it comes to platformers. A much better game than World if you ask me.

Looking back, I seriously think Mario Bros 3 remains one of the best games ever made to this day. It's just so well constructed, from its level design to its controls. There's no fluff, no fat, just platforming refined to a timeless purity.

Super Mario World is insanely replayable despite not being that difficult. It has tons of secrets, an ambitious overworld map for its time (really the first like that for the platforming genre, its such an advancement over Mario Bros 3), great music, lots of options in terms of how to advance to beat the game (special star levels, warps, the ability to skip some sections of levels and get special keys, etc.)

Super Mario World is unmatched

if Nintendo dedicated themselves to making a new iteration of Super Mario World with a different map and a bit more difficulty but maintained the level quality that that game had, I would be thrilled
