It doesn't matter what genetics you have, anyone can grow up and be gay. The situations and environment you are in greatly influence how you develop as a person in all aspects of your life. I at one time was completely repulsed by homosexual acts, then through television and books that featured gay characters that feeling slowly dissapated, and very rarely even turned into curiosity.

I know through personal experience that culture and your environment and the materials you expose your brain too has a strong influence on your sexuality and lusts as it does with everything else.

Why would anyone willingly choose to live against the current, never have a real family, children, have no rights, get assaulted, hated on? Why would anyone subject themselves to such emotional hell?

People subject themselves to emotional hells all the time, and it is not because genetics.

People who develop depression do not choose to have depression. None the less environment and experience is considered the prodiminant cause of the mental illness. Genetics influence the risk of developing it but are not the primary cause.

Saying something is not (exclusively) genetic =/= saying its a personal choice that people make.

I agree, but do you agree that mentally challenged people should be kept away from society?

Nope. But I do think mentally challenged people should be medicated and find out whats causing the defect. Same with LGBT people.

Being non-heterosexual is not a defect.

Depression is caused by chemical imbalance in brain which is genetic. Everything is genetic, directly or indirectly, like depression.

Fighting for what you think it's right or wrong isn't genetic. It's philosophy.

Of course as the whole functioning of your body is through genes, thats not the context of thediscussion though lol. The stimuli for that chemical imbalance is often caused by experience, not a gene randomly expressing itself, the experience controls the expression.  Type 2 Diabetes is the primary example of experience imprinting itself on genes.

"The development of type 2 diabetes is caused by a combination of lifestyle and genetic factors. While some of these factors are under personal control, such as diet and obesity, other factors are not, such as increasing age, female gender, and genetics. A lack of sleep has been linked to type 2 diabetes. This is believed to act through its effect on metabolism"

But is not the same when a gen determines something than when a serie of gens create a tendency. You cannot say everything is genetic because the environment itself determines how those gens are going to be expressed, a person with depressive tendencies doesnt have to be depressed, just as a lot of people with no tendencies to depression at all end up being depressed anyways.

Let's be clear about something people. Directly or indirectly Insulting people sexuality, beliefs or for any other reason is against the rules . Few posts have already crossed the line here. Keep it civil to avoid further moderation.

People with no genetic predisposition to depression never have chronic depression.
