Far out, that's a hell of a lot of juice then.

So this is basically a card designed for 4K gaming? I mean, I can't think what else you'd need that much power for, except maybe for brute-forcing unoptimized games...

It should do 4K Gaming with relative ease (my current Titan X SLI setup doesn't really struggle, either). The big thing for these cards is VR + 4K.

Not too bothered about 4K, but this is step 1 for getting a full VR system.

I'll have the Gear VR to tide me over with a few basic games and videos until then.

So how much stronger would these cards be compared to a GTX 980?

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

A factor of 2.5x I assume ...

Holy crap! 12TFLOPs and 32GB of HBM2.Now that's future proof!!!

I have been waiting so long for Pascal, this is probably going to be the biggest jump in performance that we've seen in more than half a decade.

Anybody want to buy me 1 when they release??

Well, the Titan X is about 6.1 T.FLOPS. The 980 is 4.6 T.FLOPS. The Pascal Card (GP100, specifically - successor to the Titan X) is aiming for 12 T.FLOPS. Therefore, on that basis, alone, we're looking at nearly 3x the power. This doesn't factor in everything else (but I'm sure once you do, it's closer to NVIDIA's claims of a 10x jump - though I'll have to see that to believe it).

I hope the GTX 980 decreases its price when the new GPU's come.

Let's see how long they are able to deny me big pascal.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

so what will it cost? 900?

This thing is going to be ridiculously expensive. Some day the average consumer will get this power though! Something to look forward to in another 8 years.

I hope the 980 is phased out, 970 to be 200 dollaz, 980 ti 400 dollaz and a pascal for 600 dollaz
