The funny thing is I bought my Wii after the Wii U, I know you can play Wii games on the Wii U but I was looking for a nunchuck and a wiimote and one store in Mexico had a cheap Wii bundle (almost cheaper that buying the wiimote and nunchuck separately) so I bought it. Most of my Friends and family that owns a Wii U had or have a Wii with the sole exception of a friend of mine that bought the Wii U after playing Splatoon and it was her first home console ever.

Nice. Glad he enjoyed Splatoon that much.  Are you friends multi-console owners as well? Most of my friends have PS4 and some have X1, only a few have WiiU.

No, most of my friends only have Wii U, a couple of them have a 360 (and I have a PS3) but this generation the only system we have is Wii U (and 3DS).

I never owned a Wii. I was going to get for NSMB Wii but i just got a PS3 the previous year and it was keeping me more than busy. Later on i was looking to get the Wii but Wii U was only like $50-$100 more and it had backwards compatibility and hdmi input. So that helped with purchasing decision and i picked up 14 Wii games. Was good timing as some of the Wii games are becoming hard to find.

Never owned a Wii, i buy any console if there is a game i want to play.
In Wii Us case Project Zero 5 and XCX (at the time).

I own an N64, GCN and Wii U.  I skipped the Wii partly because the WiiMote just really cheapened the gaming experience for me and partly because there just weren't many games that I wanted to play on this console.  I mean, there are games like Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Galaxy that I would love to play but I doubt I ever will because I don't want to have to be waiving my hand around.  Apart from those two though, there really is nothing that I want to play on the Wii which is odd because most Nintendo consoles have 2-3 must have titles that I absolutely must get.  I haven't even used Wii Mode on my Wii U to play an actual Wii game yet (just VC games).

I will admit, however, that the Wii Virtual Console is incredible.  There are so many great old-school JRPGs from the SNES and Genesis days that it almost redeems the Wii console to me.  That said, in terms of actual Wii games, I'm fairly lukewarm towards the lineup.
