Forums - Gaming Discussion - VGC Ecosystem: Xbox Fanbase is endangered | Nintendo over doubles Sony in threads

I like the Xbox brand quite a bit but talking about Xbox never ends well. The threads always get hijacked. I keep my thoughts to myself these days.  "Xbox pride" is stomped out quickly and efficiently, here.

This is a situation that's been going on for a long time too. It's what prompted me to do my Microsophobia thread almost 3 years ago.

no they dont. Everytime a japanese game goes to the PC those threads get a t least 7 pages, your threads get far more views than other topics

Really?, are you sure?.

My XCOM 2 thread was inactive for quite some time and each time I update my Planet Coaster Thread and bump it, it's still stays dead within the day, my recent Blizzard one is dead as a dodo after some replies. Heck I find the contrivserial threads tend to get way more views and talk than mine ever will, as far as I know I'm unpopular, at least that's how I see myself. Also I can't remember but I'm sure the Dragon's Dogma PC port thread lasted at least a day and a half, maybe 2 at best.

Meh, I probably game as much on my PC as my Consoles combined, definitely just the sheer time spent in WoW that said the confrontational nature of the PC community who are on here of "you don't post in the PC thread you must hate PC and have an agenda against it" Makes me generally A. not want to bother taking part in those threads and B. "come out of the closet" as someone who loves to game on the PC haha.

When there is a community in place you have to also consider why other people don't join in the chatter with ye, like... maybe be more inviting rather than confrontational about stuff, if you see thread and threads on here of people saying "I bought a PS4 guys give me some game ideas to play" they normally don't get replies such as "take a picture and prove you bought it" or "post in the Ps4 thread about how much you love it".

As for your Blizzard Thread, I do legit think the current state of Warcraft does have a large number of their community annoyed at blizz and definitely not likely to turn up to say Happy Birthday to them over it. (I said this to you in that thread tho, and most of the rest of this post in PMs to you already!)

I take issue with the expected idea that more xbox fans are needed for diversity, particularly when the lack of interest in the platform seems to stem from the lack of diversity the xbox platform offers.

That's hogwash. You don't think more of a different fanbase isn't going to add different opinions/ideas/votes? Maybe not needed but it'll certainly generate it.

Xbox Platform has plenty to offer is terms of diversity, not sure where you are going with that.

I think it could be argued that last gen, or the gen before, that xbox gamers as a fanbase would add different oppinions and idea. Today, tho, I don't see a huge difference in between them and those playing the same multiplatform games on other platforms.

So i'll ask: What particularly do you think Xbox gamers (or even Xbox focused gamers) add to discussion? Traditionally there have been many expereinces only found on xbox, so this question anwsered itself for me in past years.

I guess I would simplify it this way. I do think that a different fanbase could provide diversity, and that diversity is good for its own sake. I don't belive that the Xbox fanbase is actually different enough to fill that need when generally they are buying and playing the same games as everyone else.

Interesting analysis iceland.

It's been almost two years since I've logged into this site (I would lurk occasionally to look at numbers because I love that type of thing). I saw this thread whilst looking at the weekly numbers and thought I might as well log back in.

I know the Xbox fan base has always been small on this site and it appears to have gotten even smaller since I was last active. I'm not sure what could be done to make Xbox community more active (although you're thread got me to sign back in so who knows!). Good camaraderie between the each of the fan bases would probably be a good start.

Nintendo master race.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

I think I've seen a ghost! :O

Might be time to call the Ghostbusters in to investigate!

@Versus: Heh, I'm fairly certain I wasn't the original Xbox mod, there were many greats before I ever showed up!

This gen a lot of focus has been on the eastern developers who have come out of their slump, this impacts the Xbox brand as many eastern developers don't bring their games to it, as a result the other two userbases often have more to talk. The first party games of the 3 platform holders are also a factor as often they drive a lot of community interaction, Nintendo have always dominated in this area, Sony are solid in this department while MS has always been questionable in their overall first party library and output no offence intended.

Most third party games are multiplatform as well so often X1 owners wouldn't be using their section to discuss them.

I think it's important to understand why the xbox fanbase decided to stay in one thread, many felt it was a toxic environment outside of it.

Which isn't exclusive to Xbox users

No shock at all, this is such a Nintendo centric thread site, look at all your member icons, it's for the younger set.

No news here.

I mean no offense to the XBOX fans, but your stats pretty much place all the blame on the XBE thread. XB fans would rather post in that thread then post threads in the MS section.

While Sony and Nintendo fans often post threads in their sections for publicity, then sometimes talk more about it in the megathread.
