Hisoshi Nogami recently took to the stage at the end of the Splatoon Koshien 2016 tournament and thanked fans for all of their support. Interestingly enough, Nogami mentioned the possibility of future content at the end of his speech. Naturally, he was non-committal with the wording, but it seems that DLC may not be entirely over for Splatoon. Here's a rough translation of what he had to say, courtesy of a NeoGAF member:

"We announced that updates to the game would end in January but I'm starting to wonder if we can't organize a little something else."

Considering the recent discovery of two potential new amiibo, along with the unused files for playable Octolings, it certainly is plausible that the team could have more in store for Nintendo's popular shooter.

So Splatoon will have at least two more amiibos (potentially three if Callie and Marie are separate figurines). There will be 5-6 Splatoon amiibos in total. I still think that they should have allowed all existing amiibo to work on Splatoon, to add special clothes and cosmetic elements (like turning your favourite hat into a Mario hat, per example).

Nintendo really needs to expand the uses for each individual amiibo before making more, even if it's just cosmetic or time-saving (like more arrows/hearts/rupees in TP HD when you could get them cutting grass).

I'm certain there will be more songs added to the game in preparation for the next Squid Sisters live shows :)

Awesome. I also think that they should add more things to the amiibo owners. I know they're just reskins, but I'd love the the splatterscope with the weapon skin. I could tolerate getting smashed with Krak-On rollers if they had that fancy weapon skin on it too.

If they have more stuff to offer, I may be interested in getting it haha. A Callie and Marie Amiibo would be nice..

I just want my Callie and Marie amiibos.

Those squid sisters amiibos would sell so much better than any wii u game in Japan.

Would be great if the level cap increased with a few more mini rewards ;)

If they start listening to the fans/players....... Then we might see a change on the Map and Gamemode Rotation system.........

It would also be nice if some sort of guild/clan system gets implemented.
