I don't think there's a problem with XB1 games going to the PC. I think the problem is MS tend to pretend they're not going to be on the PC. Sony are just up front about it.
The PS5 Exists.

I plan on buying killer instinct so they should be happy with that! Maybe quantum break when it eventually comes to PC but KI is the only one planned. I'd riplth into Forza though I hope they bring that to PC one day! obviously they'd prefer me to buy the hardware and that yearly subscription money

But on Xbox MS can additionally to the revenue of their own games get royalties for third party games and they can sell XBL Gold subscriptions.
So I can understand that MS favors people playing and buying their games on Xbox and although my main platform is PC, I'm perfectly fine with MS giving their games a timed exclusivity on Xbox, if they port these games to PC later.
Always hertwarming to see how there are still so many experts out there who can help a multibillion dollar company run their business .
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
Somehow I doubt the cons outweigh the pros.I dunno that there Are all that many console players who would go out and spend $600 on a new PC rather than $350 on an Xbox. At the same time, there are plenty of PC only gamers who will happily buy PC ports, as evidenced by the strong sales of games like the Witcher 3, FO4, GTA5, and even Arkham Knight.
Hell, even CoD sells pretty well on PC.

The title of the article does not match the text. The writer seems to be saying that there might be a negative impact in the future for Xbox fans, but that's hardly the same as "doing more harm than good."
Regardless, it's an interesting situation. What are Microsoft's motives? They aren't doing it just to benefit gaming, I'm pretty sure, and it's not as if they make money with every game sold, the way they do with Xbox.
The main thing it tells us, I think, is that Windows is way, way, way more important than Xbox to Microsoft. First, they want to continue to make damn sure that gaming is dependent on Windows. Second, they want to find a means to slice into that PC gaming pie. There is a MASSIVE amount of money being made on PC. Anyone trying to tell you that only AAA, console-targeted games count is just fooling themselves. All money counts.
I think Microsoft has more plans for the future specific to making money with PC gaming. They probably won't even try to oust Steam with their own DRM scheme again but I bet they'll do more to turn "Xbox" into a gaming portal for console and PC both.

I just don't get the point of playing Xbox One games on your PC. Wouldn't you just rather get the PC version from the get go?

Wouldn't it be a broken bad port like every other PC game in the history of ever?.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
Think of all the good it can do for list warz on Chartz. What harm could possibly overcome that?
MS and Sony understand the PC market and console market has very little overlap.
